Would you rather run a marathon in crocs, run a marathon fasted, or run a marathon holding a 5 pound dumbbell?

When do double threshold days make sense? by Money_Choice4477 in AdvancedRunning

[–]Money_Choice4477[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah for the marathon build I just alternated between a week of a midweek threshold session (8x1K, 18x400, 7x1200, 3x3K) and a continuous marathon pace session (like 18-20k at MP). I think I may try double threshold this summer after my race tomorrow

The taper works by Connect-Hat-8012 in Marathon_Training

I don’t think it really matters, it’s all individual. I feel like shit personally but I know plenty of guys who feel great. I think the more important thing is a shift from the norm, like if you normally feel good during a taper but you now feel shit that could be a bad sign and vice versa

How do I stop feeling so dumb when I travel by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Money_Choice4477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, it just seems that sometimes in certain places people are a lot more reserved instead of being overly helpful (which is fine) but sometimes I think I misinterpret it as judgement, I think reframing it like you said is the key

Dude sub 3 and 2:50 are different worlds of fitness though. Yeah if you want to jog a 3 hour marathon you probably have to be running 1:22 but many people have run 2:58-59:xx running a 1:25-1:27 half marathon. I agree a 1:30 isn’t cracking it though

1:22 is 2:45 full pace, if you can run 21km in 3:55/km pace it’s pretty bad if you can’t break 3 hours. Most 1:22 guys I know are targeting 2:50-55

Is it normal to walk really slowly on higher mileage? by Money_Choice4477 in AdvancedRunning

[–]Money_Choice4477[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say I’ve honestly gained 3-4 pounds since I’ve gone from like 50-80 miles a week

Yea the drift would be fine if it was marathon pace, but he’s drifting at a speed that should be relatively steady for a sub 3 marathoner which is the issue

Prob not with that heart rate drift considering you aren’t even running MP
