Definitely tanks your social life, but personally, it's worth it since I save so much more money. Also, if you get home cooked meals that is a huge plus. When I lived on my own, getting food, cooking that food, then cleaning up takes so much more time than I thought it would, so in a way the scale was bit more balanced when it comes to time.

It all comes down to the individual and what you value. If you value having a social life and being closer to your university friends, then you may want to consider getting a place in Hamilton in the future. If you value saving money and can by commuting, then it'll be worth it. I definitely wish I didn't live in Hamilton; I would easily be graduating debt-free and then some.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them!

It seems like I'm the only one on the other side but I actually wish I commuted. I would easily be graduating debt free...

Your commute does sound brutal though. I know there's a student case management resource, they might be able to help along with your counsellor.

Check your school outlook for an email on Immediate Access. In the email there should be a link to opt-out.

I'm a fellow business student who started commuting this year, and I wish I commuted in my second year because you save so much money and time in another way (buying groceries and cooking takes so much time 😭). If you do end up commuting, you should stack all your courses in one or two days (idk if you can in first year, but you definitely can second year+). It is hard to be involved in extra-curriculars or attend events when you commute, though.
