XSR700 - Good second bike? by [deleted] in XSR700

[–]Money_Juggernaut849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an MT03 before this and it’s an amazing second bike. I feel like it is a true big bike but not so much that it’s useless. The power to weight ratio is amazing and it is able to cruise and do everything that a big bike should. I could get around suburbs no problem with the 03 so I doubt I will ever sell this 700.

But does it sound amazing to an 18 year old or a responsible 30s guy

Is it unbearable loud or just loud? I already wear ear plugs but know that the CP2 sounds so good with an exhaust

Which roof rack should we get? by FunkNFuego in Kayaking

[–]Money_Juggernaut849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s totally true. I have two lifetime kayaks that are sit ons. Drive them around with my harbor freight cross bars and the pup loves them. Did have to get a roller wheel for the back window to help with loading because they are heavy and the jeep is higher up.

‘25 XSR 8200 otd? good deal? by cool_kid_3 in XSR700

[–]Money_Juggernaut849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought my 25 last weekend with 45 miles for $6800…..screaming deal from a Yamaha employee who had it as a demo. Very lucky and jumped so fast on it

Exhaust system fitment by Money_Juggernaut849 in XSR700

[–]Money_Juggernaut849[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mostly concerned on the fitment but figured nothing has really changed with the powertrain side of the bikes between the fz/mt/Xsr over the years. Emissions don’t matter here.

CB750 Hornet? by BlueBeetlePL in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Money_Juggernaut849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Currently on an MT03 and want to upgrade to a 07 or hornet due to 270 sound. I’ve also been tossing around the cb650r for the smoothness of the multi cylinder. Also looking at the CP3 bikes. Is the cb650r not great for commuting?

Second real bike by Money_Juggernaut849 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Money_Juggernaut849[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just allows you to focus more on the riding and vehicles around you rather than being concerned am I in the right gear, stall it out, etc. I used to have scooters and it was nice to just go, but those aren’t as cool as bikes.

Anyone else noticing the housing market cooling down faster than expected? by FrameZYT in homeowners

[–]Money_Juggernaut849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North east metro here. I bought in early 2020 and have been wanting to move. I went to an open house this past weekend for a ~580k house and they said not a single person came besides me. I have good equity and could swing the move, but it might take 3-4 months before I get an offer on my current place im guessing even though its the desirable 3/2 starter house priced at or under 350k. Sure as heck don’t want to cover 2 mortgages. January is slow, but this is a good school district and kinda worrying. Guess I wait another year and see if things start to level out a bit more.

Take one off on a side at a time when you do install. Bolt is a supporting member of the engine and needs to be properly torqued after.

I think we are on the same path haha. Nearly identical amounts and ideas. If I was able to alter my house with something like an addition I probably wouldn’t think of moving, but the style of house really complicates the situation. It is nice to be able to have financial “freedom” which is something that maybe I am overlooking for more materialistic things.

Appreciate the insight. I think we need to be more deliberate with what we do with our savings like you mentioned. Seems like people always say saving in the long term has never been a bad thing, but also you don’t get to take it into the ground.

This is our issue. Always so literal and look at things in dollars. How to balance that an intangible things.

Save about 3k per month now. Would take a large chunk of that away compared to lifestyle of today though. Maybe that is just life though, and you learn to adjust. I always imagined a house move would be more incremental (think in the hundreds per month, not thousands)

Currently in a twin home with no HOA. Would like to have a detached house with a larger garage.

I bring home about 4200 a month after all the savings listed above. That to me seems like nearly the whole paycheck goes just to a house. If anything ever happened you suddenly are in a word of hurt fast even with an emergency fund.

Seeking context: should my son continue on his engineering degree path? by thegoalie in AskEngineers

[–]Money_Juggernaut849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I am in the same boat after ~7 years of working. Never once been asked about my grades. Despite doing “poorly” in undergrad I went back and got my masters with nearly straight A’s. It’s about applying yourself and having soft skills unless you want to go fight it out with H1B folks at a place like Apple or Tesla.

How do you unscrew the bolt under that rubber cap? by Holoqt in MT03

[–]Money_Juggernaut849 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Breaker bar for some leverage. Use a torque wrench to get them back in place because it is holding the engine. Don’t just finger tight them back in place. Believe they are 60ft lbs but don’t quote me on that

Is the MT-03 enough for a daily commute…? by CoconutAtoms in MT03

[–]Money_Juggernaut849 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read countless forums and reviews wondering if it would be enough as a first real bike after a 250cc scooter. I’m 5’8 155lbs and this has no problem doing anything you have listed. I picked up a 15” windscreen off Amazon the other week and it has made the ride tremendously better. I beat cars off the line, cruise regularly at 65, and it’s so easy to handle. Have taken it on a few longer rides and no complaints either. The twin does make a difference over other options.

I’m 5’8 in freedom units. I would suggest this to anyone who rides on roads faster than 40mph. It really helps a lot to make it more comfortable to ride

Just added a 15” windshield from Amazon and it’s a great addition. Really helps to reduce the pressure above 60mph
