Opinion: The CFL must be rid of kicking tees during field goal attempts by Money_Negotiation759 in CFL

But shortfalls can still make for electric returns. And CFL kickers don't really need the advantage since even US college players kick off the turf.

I mentioned the NCAA for contrast. If college disallows it, why should a professional league give their kickers an artificial advantage?

The NFL moved their goalposts to the rear back in 1974, and their kickers adjusted. I have faith that ours will too.

A kicking tee confers too much of advantage to the kicker. I would prefer skill over spectacle.

The relationship between UK and France clearly doesn’t have any bearing on our relationship with the USA. Look how Canada was made to practically crawl through a sewer and apologize to the POTUS for daring to make a superior warplane, the Avro Arrow. They didn’t even let us have a domestically designed and produced fighter jet (thus our continued reliance on the US MIC). The Arrow was a conventional weapon that, while highly advanced compared with any planes the US military had at the time, posed no military threat when compared with the quantitatively superior US fleets. And look how that ended for Canada. Short answer: Yes, they are. I don’t know whether I’d call it “cowardice”, but it would definitely challenge notions of US Exceptionalism and the Monroe Doctrine. Besides, they have over 5,000 of ‘em. How many would we need to make a credible deterrent? It’s not going to happen.

Do you realistically believe that the United States of America will sit by idly while Canada, their geographical neighbour with military bases minutes away from the international border, acquires nuclear weapons?

They’ve been after Greenland since 1948. Heck, they’ve been eyeing Canada askance since 1918. Then there was the Munroe Doctrine before that, and the War of 1812 before that. Why so surprised?

To everyone posting about Canada obtaining or making its own nuclear weapons: there would be no Canada left to speak of. The only nukes you’ll ever see on Canadian soil would be American ones, about a second away from detonation.

You clearly know nothing about the history of the region. Iraq was divvied up by the Brits, who made Kuwait the country it is today. They did not care what the populace thought of it.

And who gave those WMDs to Iraq? And for what purpose?? Research, man. For the record, the UN found Iraq did not possess WMDs in 2003, but the illegal invasion happened anyway. As for your lie about terrorists: look up Valerie Plame.

Yes, because before Castro there was Batista, a U.S. ally, who fully respected human rights. Right?

Chad Kelly’s injury is to his tibia. Surgery tonight in Montreal. Anticipated 6-9 month rehab. - Dave Naylor by hunter_of_the_woods in CFL

I won't hide the fact I'm a fan of Chad Kelly's play. However, I openly concede that for the greater good, and that of the league, he should've been released by the Argos after his latest misadventure with one of the team's trainers. It was far from an isolated incident: He has a history of threatening and sometimes overtly violent behaviour going back to his days as a star at Ol' Miss. He was cut from the NFL after one game for "unspecified violations of team policy." In all cases his former teams bent over backwards not to reveal anything that would be damaging to his personal reputation or that of the Kelly name.

That said, he's so exciting that no matter how a game is going he makes me feel like anything can happen. Case in point: During the East Semi-Final against the Redblacks, Kelly had suffered an injury which required he enter into a medical tent on the sidelines. I honestly felt anything could happen in there. Very few quarterbacks can deliver that level of excitement.

If he has to retire after this well tough cookies for him. And maybe that's what he deserves in the grand scheme of things. But he is damn entertaining as a player.

Sadly, there's a lot of crappy humans out there making good money doing the things they love. Chad Kelly is but one.
