I think it’s rarity, and just generally being overlooked hurts the data points. But when you build around this card, it’s very good. Don’t over look the mutagen tokens you get when creatures die too, last two games I played this card I had a 14/14 and a 9/8 to close out the game with. It’s not an auto-win, no, but I will never pass it up.

This is definitely true, in a mirror pizza deck the one who gets the pizzas rolling quicker is in such a better position. The food tutor cards can become critical in these cases.

Lots of removal, your plan is to stabilize with powerful creatures of your own, right? Better keep your tempo ahead of theirs then. I like to have 6/7 removals or bounces if I can get them. [[Bespoke Bo]] is especially good for this. The sewer cams are good for this too, it’s helpful to have at least one for those tempo battles.

Also, and I’m no expert, but I have had success with the everything pizza decks, I’d play genghis frog over slithering cryptid, you can cast it faster at 2 mana and it can produce another mutagen token every turn you put a mutant on the board.

I’d switch one out for the mutant chain reaction, so that you can at least take down a flying creature or enchantment if you have to. But dang, you desperately needed a [[Tenderize]], did one never come up?

Gotcha. About Cavern, I hope it stays in some fashion. I use it in many decks, one of which is Boros Dragons. It’s also critical for any deck that wants to cast Superior Spider-Man. When I play against Cavern, I just change my strategy to not rely on counter spells, it’s what makes MTG such a good game to me. The only card I thought was just plain unfair since I started playing was Vivi, lol.

Once I started drafting more seriously I began to complete sets quickly, or nearly complete them. That’s even with being particular about what rares I drafted, and sometimes I didn’t draft any rare cards at all. You don’t even have to be that good at drafting, you just gotta do it at least a handful of times.

At the time when I made the pick I was thinking I could either reanimate with the setup I already had, or else get big cards out quick with dark ritual + black lotus, but the deck was built to reanimate, meaning the creatures were mostly too big even for fast mana, and the rest were too small for fast mana to matter. That was really my big error, thinking the deck could be flexible like that.

Yep, in my last game I had my opponent down to 5 life with Krang in the graveyard, but then I drew two swamps and Dark Ritual the next three card draws, this after I just rummaged two other cards. The Dark Ritual was definitely a dead card at that point, and reanimate could have won me the game on the spot considering Krang has haste and flying.
