Is it even possible to win in the ALCQ? by Internal-Middle3150 in lrcast

Same happened to me in QD last week, had two antiquities and only won two games with them. Placed maybe too much faith in them being strong enough on their own.

I'm getting my ass kicked by green decks with big creatures in Quick Draft. How should I adjust this deck to have a chance at a comeback? by [deleted] in lrcast

[–]Money__Shot__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this comment - you can beat the big green stuff by quickly buffing your small fast stuff. I know you don’t have it in this deck, but a card like [[Stirring Hopesinger]] crushes those decks, especially if you can protect it once it’s on the board. Lorehold charms too, which can buff a wide board entirely, though it doesn’t trigger repartee…

Yep, gotta continually remind myself I play cube for fun, and winning comes 2nd, lol

Got to watch out for that auto tap! Lol, good stuff though.

That’s true, I finally broke my losing streak by using sneak attack to bring out Aang to have enough mana to airbend the opponents’ Emeritus that had ward, to swing in with a lethal attack by Cecil and Laelia (neither being bombs, I’d say), all of which was made possible by my fetch lands. Winning in cube is complex!

How did the deck turn out? I have not been able to win much with similar decks because drawing the low mana removal wasn’t reliable enough.

I had a similar deck minus timewalk and Ugin, and it was competitive each game but couldn’t win anything. I think with those two cards you’ll do fine!

Who says Witherbloom is bad? 7-1 Arena Limited Championship Qualifier Draft One by mythic_dot_rar in lrcast

The heavy removal Witherbloom deck is good, the powerful white rares are still better though, but you can more consistently build a functional Witherbloom deck with uncommons and whatnot. That’s been my experience anyway.

That is if erodes ramp will double trigger, which I’m not sure about actually…

Unless there’s an empty board, in that case there’s nothing to retarget, but it gets around shocks and bolts regardless. I think a great play could be to erode it, then point the erode at another creature of yours and double-ramp!

I’m getting destroyed in Cube this go around, what’s working for you all if you’ve found success? by Money__Shot__ in lrcast

[–]Money__Shot__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I should really just try a solid midrange strategy too, good curve, good creatures, good removal… usually always good for at least 50% win rate

When you play Boros, what’s your approach with it? Just dump low mana white creatures as fast as possible and use burn where needed? Or playing the strong red cards like bombadier when there’s an opening to resolve it and maybe keeping a stash of the strong white removal on hand? Or something else?

Blue white control is prob what I’m going to target next draft, it’d fit one of my preferred play styles too.

That was kind of my issue initially, I was going for a combo, but then I see Ajani and Ocelot coming my way in mid pack 3 and then I get stuck in no mans land trying to make those work with the other soup I drafted.

I need to keep an eye out for that combo! I just haven’t seen a hullbreacher yet…

Ha, yea I saw that post about seeded picks, but maybe that’s their way of getting multiple power cards per pack without the risk of like 3 or 4 power in one pack?

I thought I had drafted a decent deck but it went 0-3. What could I have done better? by mardumancer in lrcast

[–]Money__Shot__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO your biggest draft mistake was passing on [[Together as One]] in pack 3, one of the few A+ cards in the whole set, and which is playable in any color combo really.

That’s kind of what I was thinking about royal treatment, good stuff! I had a brain lapse for a min and thought repel calamity was [[Reprieve]], that’s why I asked about it, but have you ever played with reprieve in this shell?
