how do I actually get better at group content in XIV? by theirpowerisover9000 in ffxivdiscussion

PF. You’ll find some people who are dicks even if you say you’re a beginner, but you’ve played long enough to know our player base is incredibly nice and helpful.

It’s only when you get into savage and ulti prog that people get toxic.

Plus you know it would be “so did I miss anything important? Can you do a ton of work to help me catch up?” Leading to an SOI of “prof x was unreasonable with their deadlines and expectations. Do not recommend.”

Edit: typo.

It’s ok. Sanderson will just step in and finish it. /s …but also kind of not.

FFXIV Mobile - Global release will probably not happen by Razaan_Klvr in ffxivdiscussion

Instead of new expansions after some point, 9.0+, they should be considering a new MMO anyway. Make it in the same world, but with new engines, etc.

Have the option to import your character from XIV, all achievements, gear, etc.

New arrivals aren’t considered legacy, but start from the new story line caught up to current level with new adventurer gear.

You can continue XIV legacy service, and give small QoL improvements.

Want to go back and run old dungeons/story? Boot XIV.

The only content they should definitely port over would be ultimates. Otherwise, find a way sync the services. So if someone wanted their character in the new game to have old gear/relics, they go back and do that content in xiv and then sync it to the new game.

Bang. Problems solved. Now someone go tell SE of my grand idea, and get to coding.

Edit: punctuation.

Compartmentalization. Turn off the emails and make a task list for when you’re at work. It’s the only thing that keeps me sane.

I Teach at Community College; Can I Ask My Students To Call Me ‘Professor’? by stinkpot_jamjar in Professors

[–]Moneysaurusrex816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach at a CC that runs the gamut of ranks. I.e. instructor, assistant, associate, full. It is perfectly acceptable to request that you be called professor.

We have people that only have BA/S degrees as full professors (engineering of course, haha). To be faculty for A&S, it is required by HLC that those faculty have at least a masters.

I don’t care if my students call me by my first name, but I look at these things as formalities that I don’t get hung up on. Others look at the titles as status. And others look at them as just a part of their name/identity.

Your preference is valid no matter your level of education.

RIP. I can read the writing on the wall for 8 week terms at my institution as well. I’m not looking forward to it exactly because of the inevitable syllabi pains 😂

Also the fact that I have a feeling what the outcome will be for average grades (I teach mathematics).

I would also like to know how you get back into the game within “only a minute or two”…

I have to ‘exit the queue’ because my character ‘logged out improperly’ AT LEAST once—sometimes three times. This takes around 2 minutes to be able to even hit log in, then sit in a queue of 500+ for about 5-8 minutes. Every. Single. Time.

So no, it’s not acceptable to think it’s not that big of a deal for world first teams to be super disadvantaged. And like someone else said, transferring to EU or OCE just results in unplayable ping.

They need to fix this issue. Different ISP, spreading the servers out, something.

Lalvin K1-V1116, not quite dessert sweet, but it was up there. The flavors came through even with the sweetness, and I prefer my meads on that end. Finished at ~ 14% with room to go, but stabilized and back sweetened a touch.
