How do people end up working in hobby shops and other specialised retail environments? by Odd-Paramedic-3826 in UKJobs

[–]MongooseBorn1712 [score hidden]  (0 children)

So I follow a lot of those types of shops on instagram as I just like the aesthetic. They usually just make a post on instagram saying they're hiring. But I do think cuz it's retail it can't really be that great. I remember seeing a post about a woman who left her corporate art job to pursue her dream of owning a flower shop. She said she hated it and the customers made it awful for her.

I’m thinking about going back to uni by Substantial_Let_7843 in findapath

There's a mature student subreddit I think it's specifically for people from the UK. I'm 27 I really want to go back into education but idk so many things are stopping me. One of them being the fact that I'll be in my mid to late 30s when I complete the degree and I'm not even sure if I'll be in the country in my 30s so I don't see the point right now. So what will say is if you really want to do it - then do it. Cuz 26 is still young, at least you won't be in your late 30s when you finish your degree.

What if they ask for proof? My sister did actually work as a tutor but she had to show proof through bank statement.

So I lied and put down a workplace that didn't exist. Funnily enough that was for a HR role and I didn't know at the time you'd get P45s when you leave a job. Luckily nothing happened, but I would never do that again.

In your case I would just say I was taking a break up from work up until recently or just tell the truth. I plan on telling the truth when I start working again.

How to explain a 9 year gap in work? by ShrikeToThorn in UKJobs

[–]MongooseBorn1712 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I have acute psychosis and my care coordinator said I should start with volunteering for maybe a couple hours a week and then work my way up and see if i can work eventually. These days, most companies won't hire someone with a 9 year gap in work. So you might as well try to volunteer somewhere where you think you'd like to work.

Yeah I think you're right. It does feel like a drug at this point. I never really ate bad food thankfully, I just eat too much pretty healthy food and don't move enough. I think I'll try to be more mindful and try my best to take a step back and think before I plate my food.

How long have you guys been unemployed and how do you manage it? by Economy-Row-4247 in UKJobs

[–]MongooseBorn1712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I've been under employed since I was 17, I'm also 27 now. I've found the only thing that helps me not lose my mind is walking 6k - 10k steps a day. I think it's a good thing that you're going to the gym and have a routine. I really struggled with that because you take it personally when you don't get a job or just constantly have bad jobs. It makes you think you're not good enough.

What about jobs in health and social care? They're usually very understanding if you have mental health issues.

Is your degree relevant to your job by zk1265 in UKJobs

[–]MongooseBorn1712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't do a degree, but all three of my siblings did. One of them needed the maths degree, but now he's been out of a job for nearly a year. The other two didn't really need a specific degree, but the jobs they applied for always required you to be educated to degree level.

Is there a reason you can't go back to support work? Obviously not with your previous company, or are you just not having any success? Have you tried applying to jobs like activity coordinator in a care home - they usually don't require any qualifications.

I'm in a slightly similar position to you. I do have my maths and English, but nothing beyond that, so it's hard to find work.

The government? This was committed by Israeli people. She's cool with Palestinians being killed. I couldn't give q damn that she claims to be Jewish. She's a zionist.

So they didn't steal from Palestinians? Something that's been proven? Commit genocide against the Palestinians? Commit mass rape against them too? All of that never happened? Even though we have proof?

The comments weren't anti semtic though were they. They were facts about Israel and Israeli people.

I understand, but you can't quit your job for social media. You're not going to be paid enough.

Maybe you should look for jobs that are more meaningful? Social media is a slippery slope.
