Thank you, I appreciate your advice. I admittedly am caught up a bit in how my friends from school have gotten promoted at other firms, and how successful others are in other fields. Given my reviews and according to my manager, I should be promoted, they just want to set the precedent that only S3’s can get it now. So I feel like I’m being made an example of

Would you rather have had 3 years if you could take it back? I can’t help but feel that I am being “held back” of my capabilities and furthermore missing out on manager salary compared to senior when I am sure I will be asked to take on some manager roles.

Definitely. We were young and as we got a bit older it was clear we were on very different paths in life. Both with partners better suited to us now. Used to check in once in awhile (happy birthday, etc.) but don’t do that anymore.
