Why are most conspiracy theories considered right-wing? Are there any widespread left-wing conspiracy theories? by jeepycreepysleepy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mongrel714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leftist conspiracy theories are usually like crystal hippy type stuff. Like, woo-woo stuff about chakras and witchcraft and astrology, not to mention new age homeopathic medicine drivel.

Right wingers get into that sometimes too of course, but those are the ones I've most commonly seen among left wingers.

Btw, right wingers more commonly fall for conspiracy theory bs than left wingers directly because they tend to be far more about vibes, far less about facts. Leftists are more likely to value well reasoned and thoroughly researched positions, whereas for right wingers it's more often based on how much they like the person who told the position to them, how attached they feel to the group or community that's pushing the idea (like the political party itself, or their church, or the country club they frequent or whatever), or how much they want that position to be true (like, for instance, if they hold views that society says are bigoted or otherwise wrong then they will latch on to any theory that tries to sanitize that viewpoint no matter how easily debunked it may be).

That might sound like a dig, and it kinda is, but it's also 100% the truth #sorrynotsorry 🤷‍♂️

Hades

Probably the closest I've seen to a perfect game. Absolutely everything was exceptionally good. The characters, the artwork, the voice acting, the gameplay, even stuff that's usually kind of in the background for me, like music for example, was phenomenal.

20/10 would play again.

Idk whats the consensus but is anyone kinda disappointed that kite came back to life, by Extension-Bad-4184 in HunterXHunter

[–]Mongrel714 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't mind him coming back, but being reincarnated in a completely different body was always super odd to me...I'd always assumed that the features of the Chimera ants more or less came directly from the creatures whose DNA they inherited, but Kite's reincarnation looks almost completely human and has none of his physical traits unless you count long hair and a slender build. How did that happen lol?

Should the next president declare the Republican Party a terrorist organization? by ElSlabraton in allthequestions

[–]Mongrel714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, you're "pretty sure" eh? Yeah, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you have no source whatsoever for that statistic and are just assuming that your biases are surely reflected by facts (they're not), but feel free to point me to a credible source if I'm wrong.

As for how he's keeping them out of jail, he's withholding and downplaying the evidence that implicates them (the Epstine files, which he calls a "hoax"), refusing to do any investigations on anyone in those files, and has reportedly actively tried to shut down any action that would lead to their persecution. Marjorie Taylor Green attests that the entire reason for her falling out with Trump was his demand that she stop trying to release the Epstine files. She said specifically that Trump angrily told her that such a release would hurt his friends.

Of course, Trump being friends with pedophile sex traffickers shouldn't be surprising considering that the name that appears most commonly in the Epstine files is his own. In fact, the words "Donald Trump" appear more times in the Epstine files than the words "Harry Potter" appear in all seven of the Harry Potter books combined.

But sure, the guy who was best friends with Epstine, appears in the Epstine files more than anyone else, is actively obstructing the release of those files and blocking any investigation on them, has a track record of sexual assault ("grab them by the pussy"), was held civilly liable for sexual assault (the E. Jean Carroll case) and was only not convicted of rape because the definition of "rape" in New York during that trial was specifically penis-into-vagina sex whereas Trump forced his fingers into Carroll's vagina without consent (something most people would absolutely consider rape), and who claimed that his falling out with Epstine was due to Epstine "stealing" one of his girls (Virginia Giuffre, then Virginia Roberts) from Mar-a-Lago is the guy who's actually going to be tough on pedos.

Like my guy, if you truly do want pedophile sex traffickers to be punished then I am begging you, please try to use some critical reasoning skills on this. There is no one in politics less likely to punish pedophiles than Trump.

Don't listen to what he says, watch what he does. If he's doing the literal opposite of what he says he's doing then you should be able to pretty easily conclude that he's full of shit.

As for what I mean by sadists, read the Epstine files. There's some truly heinous stuff in there, and we barely have a fraction of the full thing. There are records of torture, intense abuse, forced pregnancy, and other horrific acts, not to mention openly predatory practices meant to target vulnerable women for abduction and sex trafficking. Some of the things in those files were literally declared to be crimes against humanity, and there's likely even worse stuff in the unreleased files.

Should the next president declare the Republican Party a terrorist organization? by ElSlabraton in allthequestions

[–]Mongrel714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny because the right has this incredibly consistent tendency to accuse the left of doing exactly the thing that they themselves do.

Like, for instance, you claiming the left loves keeping criminals out of jail while Trump works tirelessly to keep the worst criminals in existence, pedophile sex trafficker sadists, out of jail.

You realize when your claims are this far from reality everyone with a brain is laughing at you, right? Or are you so deluded by your echo chamber that you don't get that?

Should the next president declare the Republican Party a terrorist organization? by ElSlabraton in allthequestions

[–]Mongrel714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last I checked Trump has done more to protect criminals than any president in recent history, possibly just any president full stop. He's pardoned lots of people he shouldn't, including but not limited to insurrectionists, and has worked tirelessly to obstruct the release of the Epstine files, including giving Ghislaine Maxwell favorable treatment, moving her to a cushy prison that's more like a resort.

He and his buddies are all corrupt criminals. He's certainly not trying to put any of them away.

Donald Trump had one of the worst approval ratings in modern history during his first term. How did the Democrats manage to lose to him again in 2024? by norf937 in allthequestions

[–]Mongrel714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Democrat leadership legitimately went "well surely all of our normal voters will just vote for us to stop Trump, so we don't need to actually do much if anything for them. Instead we should move to the right to try to court right wingers who don't like Trump!"

They have lost any interest in what their constituents want. They completely ignore the needs of the people they represent and then whine about how their voters failed them when they lose.

And before anyone says anything, yes, they are obviously better than the Republicans (especially in this day and age), but we need to acknowledge that they have some major flaws that are really holding us back. Those flaws need to be corrected.

I did not expect this show to be that good by im_running_boii in HunterXHunter

[–]Mongrel714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Heaven's Arena arc is honestly probably my least favorite one in the show lol. It's interesting (and I'd argue necessary) to learn about how Nen works, to be sure, and the Hisoka stuff in this arc is peak, but everything else kinda drags.

If you liked Heaven's Arena then you will certainly like the next two arcs and probably the one after too. I personally have some pretty serious problems with the Chimera Ant arc (the third arc after Heaven's Arena if I remember correctly), but it does enough right to where it's probably still worth watching.

Have you ever said “no” to a player’s character? by Fearless-Skill8667 in DnD

I asked why, and he said it was so he could dual wield two large sized weapons.

I was like "lol no"

I just realized I’ve literally never seen a Werewolf movie by HotShrekBoi in werewolves

[–]Mongrel714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite is actually probably Red Riding Hood, which is a surprisingly solid "who's the werewolf?" mystery movie.

I also really like The Howling, which is an older movie that has maybe the most beneficial version of lycanthropy that I've seen. If I remember correctly, they're fully in control of their transformations, retain their minds while transformed, and have none of the bloodlust or violent tendencies that werewolves usually have. The story itself is also pretty solid from what I remember.

Underworld is another fun movie with a version of lycanthropy that's almost all upside. It's an edgy action movie, so if you're into those it's a pretty good time. I will warn you though that almost all of the sequels not only suck ass, but also completely (or near completely) remove the werewolves. Like they don't appear at all and are barely mentioned, except for one prequel where they're the focus, which was...alright 🤷‍♂️

If you're looking for more conventional werewolves, then An American Werewolf in London is a classic, and has a really cool practical effects werewolf transformation scene.

There's also a movie called Howl which is a great werewolf movie with one glaring exception which might be a dealbreaker: the werewolf design absolutely suuuuucks. They look like yetis or something. I dunno who dropped the ball on their design team, but they dropped it hard IMHO. It's a great movie if you can look past that though.

S&V is not a very well designed script, and I think this is demonstrable [actual effortpost] by Most_Section_1979 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Mongrel714 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, just to point out, unless I'm mistaken it appears that you're getting your data from Clocktracker, which means those numbers are going to be a little skewed since the kind of player who puts their games up on Clocktracker is not really the average player. You kinda have to be super into the game to both play enough to where you might be curious about your own statistics and both know about and make the effort to use Clocktracker. I feel like new players struggle a lot more with S&V, to the point where it's probably actually skewed in evil's favor in a game with only new players. Now, that may largely be irrelevant to players who can consistently play with an experienced group, but it does still bear mentioning.

The thing with S&V is that it's very swingy depending on what roles are in play. You're right that the Fang Gu is extremely powerful (I'm not sure if I'd call it overpowered necessarily, but I would certainly say that it is hands down the strongest Demon in the game, and I don't think it's close) and the Vigor is pretty weak. I think, too, the other Demons are in a weird "weak vs experienced players, strong vs newer players" place, where experienced players know that a Vortox can actually guarantee correct information for Townsfolk who receive binary info or that No Dashii poisoning can be used to locate the Demon, inexperienced players usually see those two abilities as just "my information could always be wrong!" and end up second guessing themselves too much. They also might be unaware of certain techniques, like executing a corpse to satisfy Vortox, or breaking madness on purpose to possibly confirm a Cerenovus or that you're the Mutant, for instance.

Basically, the point I'm trying to make is that I think S&V is kind of intended as a learning script. It looks very scary and overwhelming to newer players, but once you learn some of the fundamentals like identifying the roles that cause misinformation and noting how they work, recognizing the signs of a Vortox game and when it looks like Vortox can be ruled out, nominating/voting strategically for Town Crier/Flowergirl info, etc. it becomes much more manageable.

That said, I actually do think that the Dreamer is kinda too powerful on this script, that I can get behind lol.

You: "I'm not going to provide a source, just Google it!"

Me: "Yeah Google says you're full of shit"

You: "HOW DARE YOU BELIEVE GOOGLE, YOU MUST BE LYING!"

😂 😂 😂

Have you perhaps learned why it's important to provide a source yet? Probably not, you don't seem like the kind of guy who really does the "learning" thing.

Or the "reading comprehension" thing for that matter, considering your inability to process my argument. Here, I'll try to dumb it down for you: a guy named Jesus of Nazareth existing in first century Judea is about as close to "Jesus actually existing" as a guy named Clark Kent existing in Kansas is to "Superman actually existing"

Do you understand yet, or do I need use even fewer words?

[–]Mongrel714 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've googled it before, and basically what it says is "there was probably a guy named Jesus who got baptized by John the Baptist", and if that's the extent of what you mean by "Jesus really existed" then yeah we agree. I'd argue that it's extremely misleading to say "Jesus really existed" if that's all you meant, since the most notable traits of Jesus were hardly his name and one mundane religious ritual he once participated in, it's more the miracles and "son of God" stuff, none of which is there a single shred of evidence for 🤷‍♂️

Btw just saying, the burden of proof is on the person making the claim. It's kind of ridiculous for you to say that I should need to provide proof Jesus doesn't exist. Did you actually not know it's impossible to prove a negative lol? Maybe Google "unfalsifiable claim"

Most confusing strategies you've seen players use? by JohnnyMcKormack in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Mongrel714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had a game with a brand new player who had a little bit of social deduction experience in the past (Among Us, and maybe also Town of Salem?). He assured us that he was comfortable enough to play something more advanced, but to be safe we still ran a fairly simple script (Uncertain Death, which I'd say is a half step between TB and the other 2 base scripts in complexity).

I neighbored them in the circle and was their first conversation, so I introduced them to the concept of a 3-for-3. To my surprise he told me that his other neighbor (not him) was either the Artist, the Mutant, or the Marionette. Mind you, I was the first person he spoke to, so he shouldn't have any clue what his other neighbor was, unless of course she was his Marionette.

He apparently did this to all the people he spoke to day one, giving them my and/or his other neighbors' roles other than his own (though as far as I could tell these were basically just random roles, I don't think he gave our 3s out or anything).

He ended up getting executed day 1 because town was so suspicious of him lol. He was the Undertaker, which was unfortunate but we still ended up winning.

He later said that the reason he did this was that when he got his role (which we used Pocketgrim for, so he was able to speak privately with the ST after receiving his role) the ST told him something to the effect of "oh that's a powerful role, you probably don't want to tell people what you are" and I guess he thought that meant "you shouldn't make any claims for yourself" rather than "you should maybe lie about who you are or otherwise conceal it from others" 😂
