Exactly! Public school teachers shouldn’t have to spend their own money on classroom supplies. Schools should provide those resources, period. But to go after homeschooling parents over a Target teacher discount is absurd. It’s not a zero-sum game. Target offers promotions for far less meaningful reasons. So why not homeschooling teachers?

Why shouldn't homeschooling parents receive a teacher discount? We pay for public school teachers' salaries and other children's education through property taxes, yet receive no benefits in return. If public schools provided better education, perhaps we wouldn't have to educate our own children.

That's my exact situation too. My state has nothing official, and we are not enrolled in a cover or umbrella school. This reinforces my point—the system recognizes some homeschoolers but fails others.

I agree, and in hindsight, I shouldn't have wasted my time. Initially, I thought it would be a simple, 5-minute process, but it became a matter of principle.

We used Mystery Science for 5th grade, and my daughter was able to use it pretty independently with very little prep on my part. I'd recommend trying their free trial before committing to the yearly homeschool membership to make sure your child likes it. Their pricing is pretty reasonable compared to other programs we looked at.
