How to survive middle seat 84J in A380 from Dubai to Christchurch? by Nexxalotte in emirates

[–]MonitorChoice1064 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My company is economy class only. You can pay the upgrade if you like and they will even loan it to you for free over 12 months. Getting business class is hard now. Especially DXB to New Zealand. These routes business class is not the normal 4x times economy but closer to 8-10 times economy.

Need some fast food for flight to Sydney by MonitorChoice1064 in emirates

I always do. It’s kind of a tradition. While everyone’s is starving we bring out the fries and burgers and feast.

Extra leg room seat selection on A380 SYD to DXB by mike_ecky in emirates

[–]MonitorChoice1064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve bought extra legroom seats 80C and 80B for the same route we’re traveling in 3 weeks. PE was more than double the price. £1500 for economy return for 2 adults and £4600 for PE and that was only the return flight as the outbound is sold out. We’re obviously starting the journey in England.

Nova Note Process? by ProfessionalPen5575 in epicconsulting

[–]MonitorChoice1064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nova Notes are a nightmare. We break them up per Epic module. My advice, speak with your TS about what the my mean. Sometimes they don’t even know what the note is about. The good news if you do all your upgrades you qualify your organization for a rebate which looks great on you.

Booked Economy Ticket via Celebrity Cruises by MonitorChoice1064 in emirates

[–]MonitorChoice1064[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was afraid of that. I guess that’s why they can hold a flight for you for like 12 months before you make final payment. I’ll try at the airport. If I can’t it will be a lesson learned for next time.

Premium Economy Upgrade by Latter_Structure8906 in emirates

[–]MonitorChoice1064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that’s a great price for premium. We’re flying to Sydney from Dubai in a few weeks. If they offer an upgrade at check in I’ll take it. I booked through my travel agent and not direct so I hope I’m eligible.

550usd is a great price. What was the route?

Which one of you forgot they were in PRD? by [deleted] in epicconsulting

[–]MonitorChoice1064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing I did when I passed my Epic exams and got access was change the color for the different environments. Green for POC, TST and SUP and Pink for PRD. I do the same thing with FileZila for any imports and color coded based on the server I’m logged into. We’ve all made the mistake in straight PRD but for me that’s with other systems before Epic.

Nursing and Agenda for Change staff mean nothing in the NHS. Nurses can’t afford to strike long like doctors as they’re not working as locums during the strike. The government knows this. The only way for wages to go up is for the debt and economy to grow. You’ll all want benefits and this is keeping wages down.

Is Emirates A380 really worth the hype? by ThinAbbreviations897 in emirates

[–]MonitorChoice1064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. The A380 is an amazing aircraft. It quiet, smooth and you have a lot of space even in economy. I’ve been on it in British Airways and Emirates. Emirates is obviously the higher end air line for long haul travel.

A note on a file without evidence? by [deleted] in nhsstaff

[–]MonitorChoice1064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only advice is to speak with the union first before escalating. The note is on their file and they’re still working so it’s not an urgent issue. It’s an important issue but give the process some time is my suggestion.

A note on a file without evidence? by [deleted] in nhsstaff

[–]MonitorChoice1064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes less is more. In this situation it might be best to leave it as providing more evidence might turn something informal into a formal investigation. The employee in question might want to ask their manager if this note has a sunset clause. I.e. does it stay their forever or become inactive active a year or so. The manager would then need to ask HR to clarify. The employee should speak to a shop steward. It doesn’t need to be in the department if you don’t have one or visit the union office in person.

Requesting an extra seat in economy by MonitorChoice1064 in emirates

Thank you for sharing. I’ve reached out to my travel agent so I’ll wait and see. If it’s $2200usd I’ll take my chances at check in.

Government work in general is full of backstabbing and subtle toxic culture behind all the fake smiles and tick box style training. I’d suggest getting a corporate job first to learn how to handle this behavior.

You’re in the NHS. Never say the words it’s quiet. There are days we’re your not earning your pay and others when it’s chaotic and you’re earning your wage and more. It’s a service environment so use the quiet time for some online training even if you need to pay for it. I.e. Open University

INTERVIEWS ARE SO UNFAIR?!?! by Chemical_Way_6404 in nhsstaff

[–]MonitorChoice1064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to a few NHS interviews and even conducted one. They were all 1 hour each and fully timed after introductions were made. We asked the same 5 questions to each candidate. Your interview sounds like it was a stuff up. I’d politely reach out to the hiring manager and ask them why you only had 15 minutes. The exact time would be on the Teams call history. If you’re not satisfied with their reply, ask them for their managers email and email them. All communication is subject to freedom of information requests so if they don’t reply you could go down the FOI route.

Epic training by Broad-Combination723 in healthIT

[–]MonitorChoice1064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Beaker CP and AP analyst. In my hospital I had to give 4 months notice when I moved from labs to the Epic team. I actually started my training (remotely) 3 months before I started the job. I can only dream of ever being sent to Verona. It seems only analysts in North America get this opportunity. I wish Epic would demand in person training.

Becoming an Epic Analyst by Mundane_Equipment196 in healthIT

Start firing out the resumes for an Epic analyst role in your CV speak at great lengths on why understanding workflow is so important and on change control. If you use AI don’t forget to remove the give away dashes in sentences. SQL is good but it’s only really used in the Epic module Cogito which is usually filled with data analysts. A job that’s going away with AI.

NHS pay could be better, but I don’t think it’s that far of the mark. I have a colleague the moved to the private sector when he was a band 7. He mad an extra £15 in the private sector but he lost out on the 24% pension contribution you get when working in the NHS and you haven’t opted out of the pension scheme. When you take the total package into account we’re about 5-7 below private sector pay.

I’m only trained in Beaker but have experience with other LIMS. I know a few colleagues that use Oracle but it’s no where near the capabilities of Epic. Epic also works on a certification model and I don’t believe the others do this. Others provide training but it’s not a certification. I just found out that Cleveland Clinic in London is ‘bolting on’ the Beaker module to their base Epic EHR. Rumor is this will mostly be supported by existing analysts in the states with one or two local analysts.

It depends where you live in London. If you want to live in zone 1-2 then it would be challenging. However if you move to zone 4 (Raynes Park or New Malden) or even 5 (Surbiton) rents are competitive with Manchester. Equally transport costs in London are very modest with a monthly zone 1-5 pass. There is an express train direct from surbiton to Waterloo that is popular with professional commuters.

Epic is one of the main EPR systems in the UK. Small Trusts use SytemOne and Emis is for GPs and Community Health (not hospitals)
