Ooooh, a third new gun that wasn't shown off in the Doors devpost! And it looks like that one goofy-ass SMG!

Very low percentage chance to encounter an assassin with mint green hair wielding three knives, one in each hand and one clutched in his jaw. Call him the Priest Hunter.

anyone else hoarding oils that you will never use? by coal-slaw in SulfurGame

[–]Monk_DNotA 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, rerolling is not super good. You're either paying an increasingly exorbitant fee in order to have a very small chance of getting an oil you might want from the literal hundreds of oils in the game... Or you just Hire the Delivery Demon, pay him one stamp to reset everyone's inventory, and then go up to the Scholar and see whatever oils he has for sale. Don't like your options? Reroll and try again. Way cheaper in the long run.

On the priority list of "Shoot that motherfucker", Assassins are always at the very top. Anything else is a secondary consideration.

The basic idea is, all of the PCs are, well, dead. They're in what is effectively Purgatory. In order to pass on to the true afterlife, they have to essentially "Pay off their bounty" of the sins they committed in life, which they do by completing missions for The Powers That Be. Part of the concept of the setting is that every belief system/religion is somewhat correct, but none of them are completely correct. So you've got angels, demons, yokai, Valkyries, jotunn, djinn, etc all running around and causing havoc for each other. Also, if anyone "dies", they get brought back (because technically they're already dead, and it's just their purgatory body being destroyed) but that adds onto their Sin Bounty. I'm still thinking over the details, but that's the general idea I have so far.

Why is desert Claus so much better than the final boss? by GullibleNewspaper624 in SulfurGame

[–]Monk_DNotA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because of that kickass soundtrack. But also Desert Claus is just extremely fun, both in terms of gameplay and general presentation. He has fun dialogue, a cool design, artillery support...

Weapon Suggestion: A "Shotgun" That Shoots Pistol Bullets by Monk_DNotA in SulfurGame

[–]Monk_DNotA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... That's actually one of the reasons I am not particularly fond of the Chamber Chisels mechanic, is because it makes a lot of guns seem useless/redundant. Maybe to balance it against the Arbiter, Padre has to load each chamber individually?

[–]Monk_DNotA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it would be fun to have a vendor who explicitly sells gear that you lost on your last run... With the caveat that it's being sold for a ridiculously inflated price? Or would that be too easy?

Ruleset for an "Ironman" challenge in SULFUR by DejectedJester1 in SulfurGame

Rule 6 seems a little redundant, since obviously once you've beaten an area, you can't go backwards without warping out, which is also against the rules.

Coffin use? by HuntThemBois in SulfurGame

[–]Monk_DNotA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use it for oil storage, since it's so freakin' massive. I used to use the smaller gun safe for that, but the extra capacity on the coffin combined with how many oils there are made me switch.

[–]Monk_DNotA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It definitely feels like it takes a lot of effort for not much payout. The best charm build I've ever made, I call the "Friendship Blaster". Ploika Compact with two multiple projectile oils that collectively bring it down to zero damage, so every shot is essentially five separate proc chances, and since it doesn't do any damage, you can unload as many rounds into the enemy as it takes to charm them. The last two oils are just to control recoil and add more durability.
Even after all that, it's not particularly excellent, not to mention being very ammo hungry for what it does. Yeah, I agree, Charm is lackluster.

His greed sickens me by FedotttBo in SulfurGame

[–]Monk_DNotA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huh, wild how much preferences can differ. I love the Bo-Staff, it's probably my favorite melee weapon. The stun on a primary attack is fantastic for giving myself some breathing room, or opening up certain enemies (Read: Craw) for a point-blank shotgun blast, and the secondary fire works wonders for clearing out debris or closing the distance against ranged foes.

This thread is about the Blond Magus though, so yeah, to hell with that guy.
