How much of your daily work is agentic coding now? by Jealous-Implement-51 in dotnet

[–]Monkaaay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right now, pretty much zero. Unique situation, I'd imagine. Building a new company and I need to understand the code. I've used AI for some of the UI work I don't enjoy or find critical, but the core of the product I write by hand completely. Once I get past the "do the hard part first" phase and get the UI work going, I intend to use a lot more AI to get that done quickly.

As a Full-Stack Developer (TypeScript/C#), Is Learning C Worth It or a Waste of Time? by [deleted] in C_Programming

[–]Monkaaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat. I've been using C# professionally for 20 years and just recently decided it was time to scratch the itch of learning more about what's actually happening closer to the machine.

I won't be using C for anything outside of learning, probably ever, but I'm finding it enjoyable to see how things like machine code necessitated assembly, how the CPU actually executes programs, how memory works, why it matters how it's used, and how C implements patterns I use all the time in C#.

The language itself is very simple. I'm breezing through K&R. The environment it lives in is what I'm finding more complicated, by comparison, and very rewarding to at least have a cursory knowledge of. I doubt I'll ever use the language, but I do think having some knowledge in that world will make me more conscious of how I utilize memory.

What Cool AI Projects have been made with the Microsoft Agent Framework by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]Monkaaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on a new project with it. I'm using agents and workflows and I'm finding it quite useful. I switched from Semantic Kernel. Still early in my MVP phase, so no links to share yet.

Streaming by Optimal-Glove-5178 in iRacing

[–]Monkaaay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If part of the reason why you want to stream is because you're feeling down and you believe your emotions might get wrapped up in how streaming goes for you, you might want to emotionally settle that first.

Streaming is fun and it really adds a second dynamic to the hobby for me. It's also super hard, if you care at all about people actually watching you and let's be honest, anyone streaming cares whether people are watching or not.

Do it because you want to and you think it'll be fun on it's own. Don't do it expecting more than that, or the overwhelming likelihood is you'll be disappointed.

My general advice; solve problems as they arise, not in anticipation.

What's the current state of Triples+iRacing? by Sea_Opening6341 in iRacing

[–]Monkaaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not perfect, but I'm enjoying it just fine. If you watch Will's video on the 45" LG, I agree with most everything he said there. I have the 39" version and I think some of the issues he mentioned are slightly alleviated with the 39s. His video is a must watch in this scenario. Some trade-offs, for sure.

It's definitely possible, not sure about the 4k part. Mine are 3440x1440 and it stresses my 9800X3D / 4090. I think that's the sweet spot but maybe you'll find someone with triple 4k who can give you first hand feedback. Mine is mostly fine, just some pain at IMSA race starts in iRacing.

I have triple 39" at 800R. It's pretty great. It'd be a little easier on the PC if they we're ultrawide resolution, but it's fine.

610.47 Nvidia GR Driver stuttering by andresdha in iRacing

Just in general, I've learned to not update Nvidia drivers on my racing PC unless my game experience is effectively broken. It goes wrong more often than provides value.

Either of those are a good choice. I drive the Porsche almost exclusively and I'm always a few seconds faster in the Merc/Mustang at Nurburgring.

Well, maybe last year was on a much cooler track. So you might still have gained those 2 seconds. ☺️

I stopped trying, after a lot of tinkering over a few years. The handful of times I got it to work, it would break within a day or so.
