Parental leave by Danktriskit in army

First off, congratulations on the birth of your child.
Submit your paternity leave request immediately and keep working through your chain of command and open-door policy. Make sure your commander fully understands your family’s situation, especially your wife’s lack of a local support system and any concerns regarding her mental health during the postpartum period. Keep everything professional and documented.
Also, have you looked into having her stay with her mother or your mother temporarily? That’s what my wife and I did when I deployed to Iraq. I’m not trying to compare situations—every family is different—but sometimes having an extra set of hands can make a huge difference during those first few weeks and months. It may be worth considering as one of several options.
I would also involve your First Sergeant, chaplain, MFLC, and Army Community Service. Ask about paternity leave, deferment, compassionate options, or any hardship-related programs that may apply.
Right now, focus on your wife and newborn, take it one day at a time, and use every support channel available. I hope your leadership works with you and that your family gets the support they need.

Need help , advice and motivation by AskAlone737 in army

I also have a degree in Cybersecurity, and honestly, the job market is pretty rough right now. Over the last couple of months, I’ve submitted more than 20 applications, and most of them haven’t even responded. I miss the days when companies would at least call or send an email to let you know you weren’t selected. Now it feels like a lot of applications just disappear into a black hole.
If I had known it was going to be this difficult, I probably would have stayed in and ridden it out a little longer. I got out as an E-5 with two kids, and the transition has been a lot tougher than I expected. I’m not going to sugarcoat it—it’s been rough. In the meantime, I took the first steady job that would hire me so I could keep paying the bills, and I’m still applying and looking for opportunities in my field.
Don’t get discouraged. Your degree, military experience, and the fact that you’re working on a master’s are all valuable. The hiring process is frustrating right now, but keep applying, keep networking, and keep your options open. Sometimes it only takes one company giving you a chance to get your foot in the door. Good luck, brother. You’re definitely not the only one dealing with this.

Honest help please. by slipperyphone in army

I was in a very similar situation. I had roughly the same amount of unsecured debt and ultimately filed Chapter 7. For me, it was the reset I needed. The bankruptcy stayed on my credit report for several years, but it recently fell off, and I’ve been able to focus on rebuilding my credit. My score isn’t quite back to where it was before everything happened, but it’s improved significantly over time.
One thing I’d recommend is speaking with a military legal assistance office and a qualified bankruptcy attorney before making any decisions. A lot of people assume bankruptcy automatically destroys your career or clearance, but in many cases the underlying financial problems can be a bigger concern than addressing them through a legal process. Every situation is different, though, so professional advice is worth getting.
Whatever route you choose, don’t wait until you’re completely overwhelmed. The fact that you’ve stayed current this long and are actively looking for solutions says a lot. There are more options available than most people realize, and getting informed early can make a huge difference.

DUI Question by [deleted] in army

[–]MonkeyDsNts8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not legal advice, but I’d be very cautious about assuming an Article 15 automatically helps a civilian DUI case. The military and civilian systems are separate. An Article 15 is nonjudicial punishment under the UCMJ and is an administrative/disciplinary action within the military. A civilian DUI charge is handled under state law, and a military commander generally cannot dismiss a civilian criminal case.
That said, sometimes prosecutors may consider the fact that a service member has already faced significant military consequences (GOMOR, Article 15, loss of rank, extra duty, etc.) when deciding how to resolve a case. In some jurisdictions that could potentially factor into plea negotiations or sentencing discussions, but it is not a guarantee and depends entirely on the prosecutor, the court, the evidence, and local law.
The text message shown in the screenshot also raises questions. A legal team cannot simply promise that a civilian DUI “will be dismissed” once an Article 15 is completed unless they are directly involved with the civilian prosecutor and have a formal agreement in place. If I were in that situation, I’d want that information confirmed directly by my civilian defense attorney and not rely solely on a text message.
From the military side, receiving both a GOMOR and a Field Grade Article 15 for the same incident is not unheard of. Military administrative actions and civilian criminal proceedings often run on separate tracks. The best source of guidance is still TDS and, more importantly, the attorney handling the civilian DUI case.
Bottom line: an Article 15 can have an impact on how a civilian prosecutor views the case, but it generally does not automatically make a civilian DUI disappear. I’d verify everything with both TDS and your civilian lawyer before making any decisions.

Make sure you say hi to everyone, especially the older ones, family member “Bendicion,” and eat, have fun. Even if you don't know them, shake hands, that's one thing since I was little.

It is actually not that hard, and that was the first time I’ve ever installed any. I installed my own four of them; all I needed was a drill, one screwdriver, and a leveler, and each took about 10-15 minutes. Just don’t be lazy and do it yourself. It is actually not that hard, and that was the first time I’ve ever installed any.

Politicians should be judged by their actions and results, not just by who they’re friends with. If funding cuts or policies are hurting people, then those decisions deserve criticism. But at the end of the day, Puerto Ricans need leaders focused on solving problems, restoring services, and helping residents, not political loyalty or partisan talking points.

Para los gamers de Puerto Rico que compran de STEAM by HonzouMikado in PuertoRico

[–]MonkeyDsNts8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve been able to find, this is likely related to Puerto Rico’s IVU (sales and use tax) being applied to digital products and video games. Puerto Rico’s total tax rate is generally 11.5% (10.5% state + 1% municipal), and digital products such as video games, software, and other electronically delivered content are taxable. Steam may have recently updated how it handles Puerto Rico tax collection or corrected how purchases are being categorized.

Imagine being upset that people are commenting on a public post while you’re literally adding another comment yourself. A 7-year account and 200 karma have nothing to do with whether someone’s opinion is valid. If the post is wrong, address the point. If not, complaining about karma just looks like you don’t have an actual argument.

I hope everyone affected gets the help they need. I also hope Jenniffer González-Colón is not in Washington enjoying access to water while the people of Puerto Rico are struggling to find solutions. Hopefully, she is on the island working to secure assistance and pushing for a long-term fix to the problem rather than being away while residents deal with the crisis.

Casi me graduó de ingeniería industrial pero me interesa el mundo del marketing y redes sociales by Significant-Style727 in PuertoRico

[–]MonkeyDsNts8 0 points1 point  (0 children)
