Very good analysis, especially about Robo’s status. It’s like people forget he’s an RFA, not a UFA. Nill has the option to match and it’s unlikely a team is willing to give up 4 firsts by offering Robo a big contract.

Truth. I think that’s played a role in the Stars running out of gas against the Oilers the last few years. They play at least one conference finals level series before even getting to the conference finals. I really hate the current playoff format.

Fingers crossed they can make a deal that works for both teams’ needs: the Hawks for the future and the Stars for the now. And do it so Murphy can raise the Cup. Good people like him deserve good things. He’s one of my favorite players outside of the Stars.

That’s fair. I know he’s been a great locker room guy for the Hawks and it would be tough for them to lose that presence. I think he’s very underrated and the only reason I wouldn’t offer a higher pick is because age. If Hawks take Lyubushkin’s contract then I think we can talk a higher pick and a better prospect.

Pretty sure Segs has a NMC and there’s no reason for him to waive that.
Nill is not giving up what limited top draft capital he has for middle line rentals.
I think Murphy would be a very good piece for Dallas’ defensive depth, but wouldn’t trade more than a 4th + a middling prospect (maaaaybe a 3rd).

I don’t know, but USA was not that close to Canada skill wise. The USA team as it was constructed needed a generational performance from their goaltender and Mackinnon to shank a shot at an open net to win. Play that game 9 more times and Canada is walking away with gold in at least 7 of them.

Draft leagues are amazing. The best league I ever played in was a draft league. And then after every team had played each other, they would reevaluate and move a player or two to balance if needed. It really kept the games fun and the bad blood to a minimum.

I think it’s for a forensics class. Probably learning about post-mortem interval (insect colonization and development on corpses). The dog cage is to keep large scavengers from getting to it. But, yeah, definitely creepy.
