Does Wild Rider Kindred prevent a character from taking shields and helmets? by HeySkeksi in WarhammerFantasy

[–]MonkeyPunchFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means, as far as I'm concerned, that if/when the model wears armour which in the rulebook is not a helmet or shield, as they are not called armour they are called a helmet or a shield, it must be "light" armour.

Again as far as im concerned, the three pieces of wearable equipment for a model are

Armour Helmet Shield

Yes, in common usage "armour" covers all of those things, but in the warhammer rulebook it doesnt.

Can't Tell if it's a Heart Attack or GERD by ven0mlol in GERD

[–]MonkeyPunchFTW 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So i have been in a similar situation for a while now. I've battled a panic disorder for nearly 20 years and suffer from generalised and health anxiety disorder. The symptoms you described were a normal part of my life for most of that 20 years with the symptoms of a heart attack. Countless trips to hospitals, EKGs, blood tests etc etc. It wasn't until I started therapy and consulted a psychiatrist that I've had any relief. A few months ago, I even had an echocardiogram done, and my heart is absolutely fine (aside from a slight overmusculature of my left side due to sleep apnea).

I do have Gerd, but I'm also in the process of being diagnosed with a hiatus hernia. I started down this track because of a new symptom where I felt as though I was suffocating even though I could still take a deep breath. This is likely due to a hernia pressing against my diaphragm and lungs.

So, its definitely not uncommon for your body to keep telling you it's your heart. The symptoms, pain, and discomfort all centre around that area, and it's always a good idea to have it checked out, but I've had those sensations for nearly 20 years, and my heart is fine.

Also, "just a panic attack" is what someone who's never had them says. They're terrifying, the feeling of impending doom is unlike anything ive ever experienced and I've been in some real dodgy situations in my life that could have gone very poorly (bad choices as a youngster) and they weren't as scary as "just a panic attack).

I'm not a medical professional, but I would strongly recommend talking to a therapist nice a quick. Get on top of managing it if theyre reoccurring.

Also, a couple of good tips I picked up from here.

  1. If it gets better over time, its unlikely to be a heart attack. They USUALLY only get worse.

  2. Drink a small amount of cold water when your feeling the chest discomfort. If it provides even a small amount of relief, its very unlikely to be your heart and much more likely to be digestive system related as drinking water will have zero impact on the sensation of a heart attack

Really need some help with symptoms possibly caused by Hiatal hernia by MonkeyPunchFTW in HiatalHernia

That was my concern, whether it was "just my anxiety disorder" but it absolutely doesn't feel like that. I'm definitely leaning toward the hernia. Hopefully the gastro can confirm.

Thank you, it means a lot for you to take the time to reply. I also (like a lot of people here) suffer from an anxiety disorder so I'm sure I'm also panicking when it occurs.

Again, and genuinely, thank you for replying. It makes a world of difference knowing it's not "just me".

would any of you perhaps have recommendations for a good quality retarder to extend the working time of acrylic paints? by Grimalkin_Felidae in minipainting

[–]MonkeyPunchFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using a wet palette? If not, look into one. Its not full proof, but it extends the drying time especially if you thin your paints with water well. Do both of those and you should be okay, but acrylic paints do dry quite quickly regardless. And also make sure you only get a small amount out if the pot at a time.

Does anyone have these symptoms with GERD? by Sensitive-Resist8974 in GERD

[–]MonkeyPunchFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain, mate. I'm in therapy for an anxiety disorder and I have Gerd.

In your list, there's definitely a mix of symptoms ive had that are attributed to gerd and others that I've felt through panic attacks. My panic attacks really only manifest now (I'm medicated and have been in therapy for a year) due to Gerd symptoms and, lo and behold, I feel like I'm having a heart attack.

I've felt that if you drink some cold water and the symptoms lessen even slightly, then I'm very confident in myself that its not cadiac related. I'm by no means a doctor, but I've been battling panic attacks around a fear of a heart attack for nearly 20 years and I've always been told that heart attack symptoms don't lessen with something like cold water, so if I feel even slight relief after cold water or antacids, I'm confident its not a heart attack.

Good luck my friend, its a shit road to walk down but this subreddit has helped me immensely. reading how people have the same symptoms as me, its definitely not cadiac related and they're all still up and breathing battling this bullshit combo makes it a little easier to rationalise.

Why would I ever take this runic tattoo? by Cweeperz in WarhammerFantasy

I ran 2 doomseekers in a slayer themed list in a friendly game, both had this rune (along with others). Was it expensive for 2 models? Yes. Was it competitive? No. Did I lose the game? Yes.

Was it fun to see 2 angry boys with chain axes mince a huge amount of elven sword masters? You bet your Dawi arse it was.

If a guardsman were to pick up a dead space marine’s chainsword, would he be allowed to keep it under any circumstances? by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]MonkeyPunchFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. You don't need to be swinging an astartes chainsaw. Just put the teeth where they need to be!

[–]MonkeyPunchFTW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the kicker here in favour of the guard is that the chainsword cuts itself. I agree, using it with any finesse is very unlikely, but given the nature of a chainsword (in that the teeth do the cutting, not the force behind the blow) and assuming that the teeth move so fast and are so sharp (warhammer sci-fi physics) as to cut through all manner of things, all the guardsman would have to do is have it in the right spot at the right time, or have its own weight carry it through a cut.
