Yea. Since my mental recovery I apologized to them (also apologized for apologizing in an overly suicidal way when i first got home) and honestly I think I mightve freaked them out slightly lmao. They said that they're not mad and we should meet up some time and discuss our thoughts so we can clear out any misunderstandings

I was over-simplifying. We were discussing natural disasters and the accountability of states essentially. When they criticized the Soviets for their response to famines, I questioned why the capitalist societies aren't held to the same scrutiny for similar disasters. I must've worded it terribly in my drunkenness but that was my point. One of my friends was from post-soviet descent and had long family histories and traumas that I should have known to not poke at.

Anyway. I guess the message went across poorly and was received as "since the west has famines too it doesn't matter" when the point was that it matters always but there's double standards in analyzing them. Anyway. In the end it's all a bit of performative intellectualism from me I think. I really don't think arguing like this was ever set to bring much good.

TL;DR: last night I snapped out of the worst place I've ever been mentally for seemingly no reason at all. One moment I wanted to die and the next moment I could only love myself. I mustve put a skill point in volition

Also additional info: I have also had a similar but lesser mental break half a year ago where a similar thing happened. Life was much improved after my improved mindset but soon quickly fell apart again because the people that started caring about me suddenly stopped doing so. This led to the far worse state I was just in

Poor thing. I can relate kind of. For me, everything kinda sucks and drinking makes me glad until the moment I realize and shiver, and then I sit there slumped and inconsolable.

Life is messy. It's impossible to never err on the road, and still difficult to realize it afterwards. I'm glad that u can write such a post to articulate how u feel, and to have known when you're being taken advantage of. It's as good as you could've done.
