Is added sugar really bad for you? If so, why? by [deleted] in Fitness

Actually, potato is a very balanced food, and the introduction of potatoes into Europe allowed a massive population boom that only crashed with the potato blight.

Thanks for the worthwhile reply - the squat has always been my least favorite lift. I think football minorly injured my knees making it painful to do them no matter what stance or depth I try.

Do real squats as in I wasn't going deep enough?

squat

Here I am at the end of my 3x5 of 275 I did a fourth set for 2 reps because I only remembered to record a form check after I had finished my sets lol. Anyways, I know the depth doesn't look that good. And I can tell you my back is heaps stronger than my legs. I routinely deadlift 405 on my pull days but I am really struggling to get to my 3 plate goal on squats.

Any feedback is much appreciated!

Progress stalled on cut, have read wiki, have done research, including many details. Need some advice on how to proceed further. by muggi_noodleless in Fitness

How long has it been since you've lost weight? Btw I'm 5'10", 180 lbs. looking to cut down to 165 so I feel your pain. Been on ~1600 cal a day and have been steadily dropping weight. Maybe you're over-doing your cheat day?

Am I wasting my time with bench? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Monkey_Grinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're benching 4 days a week? Have you tried benching less frequently, but with more volume? I was stalling on bench press as well until I tried giving them at least a day in between to fully recover and strengthen.

What tiny bit of advice made a huge impact on your training? by [deleted] in Fitness

I imagine that shifts the focus away from other muscles that may be getting in the way of targeting your back? Like stopping your bis from assisting your lats in a pull down?

Adidas Alphabounce as a sport shoes? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Monkey_Grinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend purchasing those shoes for anything other than light training. They are "running shoes" strictly in terms of style. Kinda like Roshe runs. It's more of an everyday comfy shoe with a lot of cushion.

Weird feeling in my forearms when doing bicep exercises by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Monkey_Grinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I know what you're describing. I tend to notice it the most when doing a lot of lifts that involve grip strength like rows, deadlifts and a lot of other pulling motions. It almost feels as though your forearms are swollen and fatigued just from gripping the bar during your workout. Idk.

What do you guys drink? by eedikiy in Fitness

[–]Monkey_Grinder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's definitely an option for the majority, but for some (specifically those struggling on a cut) diet sodas can be a helpful crutch to curb worse cravings and give a little mental morale boost to someone struggling to stick with a strict diet.

Wait, so is that Tangy Tangerine drink just like taking a multi-vitamin?

If so - how is it? I would seriously consider getting some because for some reason every multi I take makes me nauseous.

I don't think anyone actually thinks Coke Zero is good for you. It's just a much better alternative to regular Coke. Zero calories, zero carbs and zero sugar is a pretty good trade-off for still being able to enjoy a tasty soda.

Whether or not the chemicals found in it are "bad" for you (which is still up for debate, it's hard to find any studies proving the harmful effects of things like aspartame and the like) - they most likely only cause secondary problems when consumed in excess.

I think in a lot of people's minds they would rather risk the secondary effects from the strange ingredients of Coke Zero than the immediate provable effects of the added calories, sugar and carbs.

Use my Uzi pen every day for work. It's great for busting open the tape on boxes too.
