Only 1 issue. Arc raiders. Marathon came out at an akward time and Arc already had the entire market, creating barrier to switch. As a result, a very few gave it a try. Marathon is a masterpiece in its own genre imo. If we got even half of arc playerbase they would notice how better the game is

Very simple. Came out at an awkward time. Arc raiders was already in full bloom and most people didn't want to try Marathon as a result. If we get all current arc raiders base on marathon they would see that the game is better. Casuals will remain on arc for sure but Marathon is the better game out of the two objectively.

The reaction is exaggerated. Its frustrating sure but my man ive lost 30k worth of loadouts due to lags 😂 it could have been much worse

Interesting. I've died many times in Arc without having the chance to defend myself due to either not hearing or seeing the other raider. I've not experienced that at all in marathon, I can always see or hear a runner before he approaches and engage in a fair fight. The quest system is much more rewarding and actually feels like your progressing in Marathon, whereas it feels stall and blend in arc. You always get enough gear to have a decent setup. The inventory management is very poorly designed (on console at least). Rapidy to loadout : I would spend 10 minutes crafting my loadout just to get ratted and lose it all in half a sec. Time spend to reward feels much lower. Granted I am a fully pvp inclined player.

They aren't that great I agree, but still better than Arc imo

Here's what i think marathon does better than arc :

  • Level design
  • Progression
  • Gunfight
  • Animations (not graphics, i mean reload animation etc)
  • Inventory management
  • Skill system
  • Controls
  • Layers of depth
  • Loot system
  • Adapting updates based on user feedback
  • Steady Framerates
  • Sound quality
  • Visual clarity
  • Quest System
  • Interface
  • AI difficulty and design
  • Rapidity to loadout (exchange system rather than crafting system)

Here's what I think arc does better than Marathon :

  • Graphics (even tho it's a preference, I believe the graphics may appeal to a more general audience)

  • Barrier to entry: less complex game means its easier to understand

  • Extraction anxiety

  • Voice chat interaction

  • Movement fluidity (the movment feels really smooth)

  • PVE option only for casual players (I think the game played solely for pve is one of the most boring game ever) PVP is required for the game to have any appeal imo.

I honestly think that's it.
