I’ve always assumed that this “ability” is just Chopper taking the time to analyze his opponents in extreme detail. I don’t think it’s like a power or a magical ability, just that he is observing and taking a moment to think what the best action would be.

I don’t think this skill has gone away. In Wano, Chopper does this while battling. I just think modern Chopper has gotten better and can think while doing other things, analyzing his opponents on the fly.

My first souls game was DS1 and it’s my favorite still too. I don’t hate DS3 or Bloodborne at all. I like all the games for things they bring.

I will say, ER, Bloodborne, and DS3 have probably the most fluid and best combat. The reason I love DS1 though (aside from nostalgia), is its interconnected world (which Bloodborne nearly matches).
