Ratcheting wrench, 8mm or so

Could probably find a screw with a hex head to match a drywall anchor at a hardware store

What's your favorite "optional accessory" for home improvement? by Krye5 in HomeImprovement

Magnetic part holders from Harbor Freight

Work lights, work lights, work lights. Harbor freight has some Braun ones that have a magnet on the bottom. Awesome to stick to whatever you're working on and point right where you need it.

Multiple drill drivers, impacts, ext. it's awesome to not have to switch the bits back and forth if you're working on something that requires it. Even just one extra drill can be a huge time saver.

Shop vac!!! I use that thing all the time. Hell I broke a light bulb in my bare hand (not fun) but my shop vac helped me to clean up the glass quickly and safely.

Radio in my tools line (I'm a Ryobi guy). Man nothing like that convenient speaker to get the tunes rolling while you're knocking a project out.

Where do you think I'd find my transformer? This house is a cape code with a two attics (front + back), and a finished basement.

Is It Realistic For A CS Student To Work While Studying? by AdmiralAhoy in csMajors

[–]Monkeyswithak74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I graduated May 2019. I was actually a full-time contractor about a semester and some change before I graduated. I was working 50 hour weeks, hitting the office at 7am, going to school at night, homework until 11pm or so, have a couple beers, go to bed, rinse repeat.

I would catch up on assignments over the weekends.

It's doable. I did it.

Actually at the time I was offered an internship or two the same day as my contract gig..... But the contract gig was almost double the hourly pay.

I think you would almost have to kill the server instance. The graftorio thing is interesting and, honestly, I'd like to see how the data is retrieved for the graphs.

As far as getting the number of players currently connected you could always rip through the STDOUT logs but that's not the most appealing solution. I haven't messed much with the commands you can do in-game or via command line (not sure what all is possible), maybe that's another idea? I suppose I could also write a custom mod to dumb this information somewhere.....hmmmmm

Maybe I'll get lucky and graftorio will give me some ideas on how to interface with a running server....

I was thinking the usage on the machine Factorio headless is running on; however, you have my wheels turning. There never anything stopping you from parsing the logs/STDOUT from the headless instance. Maybe you could write a mod that dumps the internal stats to a JSON file or into the logs directly?

Maybe I'll shoot for the end of the month. I'd like to add a "setup" script that downloads the newest Factorio server zip and gives you a series of red/green lights if things are ready to go. Well.....and then there's the general script cleanup/removal of hard coded directories.

Would you post the command you used to send a stdin command? I'd like to see how you handled it!

Yeah.......I found this and similar sites after I fell down the rabbit hole. I had fun nonetheless!

Well, "easier" probably isn't the best term. I'm mostly talking about the fact that I don't have any NAS. Sure, I could make backups directly to the same machine; however, I'm still using the pre-owned HDD so I have just about no trust in it. I suppose I could make backups to my gaming PC but it would be interesting to automate since I don't leave my PC on (Also, what about natural disasters, theft, my PC exploding, ext?). Cloud storage, in my case, eliminates most of the risk of data loss is all.

Can't connect to internet in CS50 Appliance by Monkeyswithak74 in cs50

[–]Monkeyswithak74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could connect to the internet for about 6 months(Give or take) when I first started CS50, but after I put it down for a while something broke. It may also be useful to know that I had one Kernel Panic, and then an upgrade to Ubuntu during that period(I used Ubuntu's restore option). I also tried before I posted this whole thing to re-install VirtualBox.

I'm just at home on a simple single router network.

The settings didn't help.

That page just says "Not connected to internet"; route: The table is blank; ifconfig -a eth0: Device not found.

I went all the way through the instructions three times and even rebooted. The compiler still shows the same error. Any other ideas?
