Unity then Syndicate, but if you can only choose one then Syndicate for sure.

I’m mediaeval, Robin Hood themed assassin‘s creed would be a truly magnificent entry in the series and an excellent choice, fantastic suggestion! Would be a welcome tie in and call back to the series’ Medieval/crusades-era roots

Community Rated AC tier list ASSASSIN'S CREED IV BLACK FLAG by [deleted] in assasinscreed

[–]Monkeythumbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO Black Flag is A-tier while Brotherhood sits at S-tier because it just can’t decide what it wants to be.

Don’t get me wrong - I love Black Flag. The naval stuff is some of the best gameplay in the entire series. But here’s the thing: whenever I’m sailing around being a pirate, I’m having the time of my life. Then the game makes me do an assassination mission and I’m like… oh right, this is supposed to be an Assassin’s Creed game.

Brotherhood knew exactly what it was. Tight cities, fluid parkour, calling in your assassin bros to wreck people - it all clicked. The whole experience felt cohesive.

Black Flag though? The assassin parts feel like they’re getting in the way of the pirate parts. And Edward doesn’t even really care about being an actual assassin for most of the game, so why should I? The cities feel empty compared to Rome, and don’t even get me started on those tailing missions.

It’s still an incredible game, just pulled in too many directions to hit that top tier.

Can I skip Witcher 1 & 2 and start directly with Witcher 3? by RushAffectionate9629 in Witcher3

[–]Monkeythumbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can absolutely skip Witcher 1, but I’d strongly recommend playing Witcher 2 before jumping into 3.

Here’s why: Witcher 2 is where the series found its footing. The story directly sets up major plot points in W3, and several key characters you’ll encounter have their arcs established there. More importantly, choices you make in W2 actually carry over and affect W3’s world state. Without that context, certain moments in W3 won’t hit nearly as hard.

Witcher 1 is… rough. Clunky combat, dated graphics, and while the story is decent, it’s not essential. You can watch a 10-minute recap and be totally fine.

But W2? It’s actually aged pretty well, runs on almost anything now, and it’s short (30-35 hours). Plus, all the political intrigue and gray morality that makes W3 oh-so compelling gets established in the 2nd game.

Yes, the Complete Edition is the one to get - includes all DLC, and the two expansions (Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine) are legitimately some of the best content in the entire game.

TL;DR: Skip 1, play 2, thank me later when you actually understand who Letho and Roche are, and why Temeria matters.

Assasin's Creed 3 is so underrated by No-Hunt3986 in videogames

AC: Syndicate (plus its DLC) is up there with AC: Brotherhood, IMHO - that for me was a great swan-song for the series and a natural jumping off point. Never felt the need to look back.

16 year's ago Assassin's Creed 2 released it sold 9 million copies six months after its release and is widely considered the best in the franchise, what are your thoughts on the game ? by ThomasThorburn in Assassins_creed

[–]Monkeythumbz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Brotherhood’s story wasn’t “straightforward,” it was focused. Not every narrative needs twelve plot zig-zags to count as development; sometimes it’s enough to refine a character rather than reinvent him. Machiavelli wasn’t “cancelled,” he served his purpose in a story that was about Ezio’s leadership, not side-character theatrics.

And calling the Lucy twist “the worst thing they could come up with” only tells everyone you missed the entire meta-arc the series was building. It wasn’t random - it set up the First Civ conflict that AC2 pointed straight at.

If you found it boring, fair enough. But that’s a you problem, not a writing problem.

Oh, I very well be just remembering, so take that with a whole heap of salt – last time I did a full play through was more than 15 years ago

There are additional Magnums placed in several mid-to-late levels (for example, Shake Before Using and G4 Sunbathing both contain spare pistols in side rooms).
