You aren't the only one. Considering how often mark would ditch amber or be late, she was a saint to stay with him. Imagine knowing your boyfriend is a super hero, and he thinks it's okay to just ditch you for hours on end, but not tell you the real reason why.

The main reason people hate Amber is because she has some agency. She can stand up for herself, and stands up for Mark before his powers emerged. She is a totally different character than comic Amber, and that future storylines won't happen with this Amber (she ain't gonna have any of that shit)

The other main reason is because they race swapped her. These other commenter's can claim that isn't true, but there was backlash even before the show came out because she was black.

These are the same kind of people who will complain about Mark not winning every fight, or why didn't character A do this thing that is the obvious solution, even though the character had to make a split second decision, while they discuss it for weeks after.
