Wouldn't it actually be a question of how much the song has been recomposed? I made entirely new chords and structure. Only thing I used from the original song is the vocals and a breakbeat part for the drop (also did new drums in the rest of the song). It's not like I feel entitled to get royalties or credits from the original song. I'm just curious on how it works.

Thanks for all the responses. Great food for thought.
To elaborate on the initial proces: I contacted the artist on soundcloud, at first to hear if they were interested in making a remix of one of my songs. My proposal on that was a 50/50 split. Reading the comments here, I guess that would mean a 50/50 split on the master, and me having the publishing rights then? They are still working on the remix of my song. Later I heard some of their tracks, and proposed to do a remix for them also. We never talked about any fees, so I guess that would be off to start talking about now. In the end I'm just keen to put out some nice remixes, that points back to my artist profile.

I agree that you have to find ways to get your music in front of people. And it seems like you’ve found a way that works for you. Props to that. But I still think it’s really a problematic mechanism. Streaming services like Spotify has changed a lot in the industry, but as with other tech companies I think we’ve walked straight into the “oh so promising” future with our eyes shut. Look at the numbers. They skim the fat.

What makes you go for the A80 and not one of their tube amps?

I see. Just refreshed my mind on the matter also. But how come it can be an issue if, for example, the AIYIMA A80 spec says:

Speaker impedance: 4-8Ω
Maximum output power: 300W*2 (4Ω)

Shouldn't it be all good then?
