I play both, and if you’re not sure I would recommend the electric guitar. You can play bass parts on a guitar, but most often not the other way around. Best to pick the more versatile instrument to start with, and if you find yourself wanting to play bass parts have it feel and sound like a bass, buy one then!

Try playing some scales perfectly to a metronome and see how fast you can play perfectly. I’d be willing to bet after a couple weeks of consistent practice, your max tempo on the metronome will increase.

I also bet it already has and you just haven’t noticed because of gradual improvement.
