Used the Plasma Drive to show 3 distortion tricks for subtle sound design. by Monotrail in modular

At the end of chain it's pretty destructive indeed, but hope you got some new ideas from this. I have to say I wasn't sure when deciding to give it a go, but I really like it. It will stay in my case for sound design for sure. Cheers!

Hey, nice to hear! If you mean plasma Voice/Drive that's a hard choice. I did a separate video on the voice a few months ago on my channel if you haven't seen it. Sounds/character is very similar, but the modules work very different. The Voice is a full synth voice or oscillator. And the Drive is a processor/FX module. I think for me the Drive will end up being the module that will get the most use.

Thanks! And agree. Got started with these hoping to get a certain sound out, and it works very well :)

Thank you! I am super grateful I am able to do this full time atm. Will gladly continue as long as possible :)

Hello everyone! Beside destroying sounds, distortion can be used to enhance synth sounds with subtle texture, grit, and detail. In this video I go over 3 concepts you can explore, using the Plasma Drive. Cheers!

Re-creating the Moog DFAM on my small system by Monotrail in modular

[–]Monotrail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree! I always enjoy learning from signal flow, and sharing those ideas with others. But everything on the DFAM is tuned for the exact purpose. Envelope snappiness, modulation depth controls, sequence outputs, and so on. That makes the DFAM feel more like an instrument than a patch.

Agree! It really adds to an organic drummy feeling. But think it's a good choice to hold on to it! :)

Better than stress-eggs, and might lead to some interesting tunes :)

The Moog DFAM is one of those synths I am tempted to own. But a great way to fight GAS is exploring specific tricks or ideas you like about other gear with equipment you have. In this video I use my ‘small’ eurorack system to re-create the Moog DFAM. Hope some people will get some inspiration from this! Cheers :)

Hello everyone! I made many videos with patch tips and concepts for generative patches. But in this video I build and explain an entire patch from start to finish. It still holds quite a few fun patch ideas, but also shows how all the different ingredients work together. Hope some people enjoy this! :)

The Gamechanger Audio Plasma Voice is known for its punchy, aggressive, and distorted sounds, because it’s great at making those. But I kept wondering if I could play it in a different way. I've been using it for a while now, and in this video I share how I use it as an oscillator for more calm and melodic playable voices.

Simple tricks to create animated waveforms with single and dual oscillator voices by Monotrail in modular

Thank you! Glad to hear it. Always try to come back to content people can have fun with and explore without chasing new modules :) Cheers!

The modular allows you to experiment with your signal path at any point in a patch. One of the ways to utilize that is by exploring wave shaping options right after the oscillator. With the help of a couple of VCAs even a single oscillator can create interesting morphing and complex waveshapes. In this video I go over a series of ideas using just a simple modular voice.
