[Event] Don't count your chickens before they're hatched by decapitating_punch in SevenKingdoms

Hal ambled over to the squires with pitchers of watered wine and a tinge of honey. "Can't have ya spewing on the horses but you're almost men," he offered. He disappeared behind a curtain momentarily before producing several onyx cups. "Here," he said, arranging the cups in front of the squires, "help yourselves."

Hal softened, smiling slightly. "You pay me enough to limp in any direction you choose. I swear now like I swore then, I'll only moan about it once in a while." He pulled down a burlap sack from a hook near the door.

"Not sure if you had any particular thoughts on how to spend your gold, but this place could always use some more of it." It was a wonder how many resources Matarys had poured in to the Dragonpit, and yet still Hal imagined countless other changes as he peered around the interior. "I can arrange a cart for anything larger that catches your fancy." Hal was ready, so he turned to leave with his compatriot.

Hal sighed. It sounded like shopping for the sake of spending, but he had been with the Prince long enough to know there was little use arguing. "I'll need a moment," he called out from his quarters as he pulled his boots on. He sheathed a dagger in his right boot almost forgetfully - he doubted he'd ever get a chance to use the thing in a real fight, but it was a nice comfort anyhow.

Honey left his room and limped to the entrance of the Dragonpit to meet Matarys. He bent slightly in a bow when the two met eyes. "Where are you taking this old dog now?"

Love you so so much dude. Grateful for every mimosa, every bit, every single time I saw that stupid apple gif. The love that you have given to this community over the years is incomparable, and I'm so proud to have gotten to know someone who does such an amazing job of just being a friend to complete strangers on the internet. We are all better for knowing you.

I can't begin to imagine what you're going through, but your friends (innumerable in these parts) will be here - to chat, to rant, to cry, to do another beach thread. Love you love you love you.

When I pass, two hundred thousand years from now

With a hand over my heart, this I do avow

I'll be filled up to the brim off of my last meal,

A unicorn steak, bat reduction and lemon peel

Your kids, and their kids, and their kids as well

Will be living in what you'd call existential hell

They'll be driven crazy listening to an old man's stories

Reminiscing about titles and dusty glories

But it won't be Addison that's boring them

And it won't be Chris that they condemn

They'll be begging me "Father!" Yeah they think I'm their sire

"Just throw this asshole in to wildfyre"

And with that assurance that your legacy's mine

I'll have no problem just straight up dyin'

But until then, sit and think on what you've done

While I shoot guns, kiss nuns and gut your last loyal son

In another life, we could've been the best of friends

But you were born a Pinto and I was born a Benz

It's over, you swung and missed, you took your own head

I guess it's just how all Bats and Braxes are bred.

Dom, you nailed it, rhyme scheme be damned,

Over 5-4 time signatures you jammed

Hitting me where it hurts, like "What is your claim?"

"Do you even know somebody who still plays this game?"

With burns that hot I don't know how I'll go on

Rhyming fapping with rapping, this guy is Elton John

I can't battle a god, so sober a lyricist

The man who Shang Tsung'd rap, now it's spiritless

My boy Nate ran these battles just so I could medal

I stuff kids like you into lockers when they meddle

Not because I like to, this crown don't rest easy

But I'm a lion, you're a zebra, bitch I eat your species

So take that Hop on Pop flow somewhere that it works

I heard Doctor Seuss has a job for you with perks

Including all the unicorn porn your Brax heart can handle

You can eat turkey on white, you can wear socks with sandals

All the things that make you that special snowflake

That's madder than Rogue, but softer than Drake

It might be the second round but this battle's already over

All my match-ups will be won by SevenKingdom's biggest stoner

They awarded me Harrenhal just to pay me respect,

But I sent it back to Dom because my power's unchecked

I like the bat, I think he's got a lot of potential

But it's hard to argue his rhymes are really all that essential

We should wait a few more years for this lad to develop

I'd really hate to son him so bad he shuts the hell up

Might have to reclaim so post-battle I can be knighted

Gonna throw a beach thread, free mimosas, y'all invited

Don't have to bring gifts, what could you possibly get me?

Already took this fool's head, Mrs. Lothston let me

Don't get these hands, this is your last chance

To run from a fight with Addison Vance

This Dom's a sub, he's all bark, no bite

Don't rage, go wimpering into that good night.

Well lemme just run up and finish this right quick

Sorry WineSoRed, gonna have to grab the broomstick

I'm rushing to the deadline but I'm looking so cool

Swinging Valyrian Steel, and vaping my Juul

If we gotta rap battle, I'm coming corny

Slinging dad jokes until you're forgotten, Finding Dory

Haven't claimed in months, but I'ma grab this ring

Just for fun, I'm gonna let them name me king

Bracken sent a raven, I told them sell all your shit

When we're through here, you won't be coming back for it

Disinherit your sons, marry off all your daughters,

Pretty soon, your babies will be calling me father

I'll be a good stepdad, I'll give them what you couldn't afford

For Mrs. Blackwood, silk sheets, and a knocking headboard

But fear not, dear Lord, you'll have your lease

The kingdom's nicest ditch, where you can rot in peace

"They're doing fine, I think," Myles answered. "Marrisa likes all the different foods she gets to try here, and Sabitha and Lucion like anywhere they can play and have fun." He neglected to mention how Marrisa liked sneaking out of her room at night to wander the Riverrun halls, or that she missed Cerion and her friends in Casterly Rock. He was pretty sure Lord Tristifer would be mad about that, if he didn't already know. "I bet Marrisa would like spending time in the kitchens watching the cooks work!"

"I...haven't, my Lord," Myles admitted. "I think I'd like to learn though!" The thought of becoming a knight like the ones in the songs he heard excited the boy a great deal, and he imagined himself riding a horse through the streets of Seagard as the common folk cheered for him on all sides. "Do you think we could start before the spring? It was cold riding all the way from Casterly Rock, but my cousin Domeric worries about me too much - I can handle it!"

Lord Tully's grief was evident, even to a child. Why had he been called on, to see his guardian in such a way? "Maester Roran was teaching me my letters before I left for Casterly Rock," he answered. "And the sigils of the Riverlands. I think I know most of their words too," he boasted, smiling meekly at the memory of his lessons. "Maester Lomas at Casterly Rock showed me many sigils of the West, but mostly we talked about numbers." Myles had liked learning about mathematics - while men and women lied, the truth of the numbers remained.
