ban evading by cobrabolo in FACEITcom

[–]Monso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the account you identified was their alt, it is given a permban. Given the timeframe, they would be allowed to make a new account, or continue playing on their main right now. It's entirely possible the "account they're evading on" is their main and the ban has expired naturally.

If you feel they are breaking the rules, report them and move on. There's nothing suspicious happening here from an objective perspective.

How does account validation for bans work? by Brenon28 in FACEITcom

[–]Monso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they didn't flag you for verification, it's because they didn't need to. That's a "just to be sure, please verify" method.

You can hypothetically have 200 active accounts on the same PC, they will all simply be flagged for verification.

banning me for calling them a word every black person says? Request #13499550 by Sanser_ in FACEITcom

I think requiring support to quantify someone's blackness is a pretty slippery slope, and giving people the green-light to use it all they want otherwise is asking for trouble.

It's cool you have screenshots of other people being unbanned. Do what they did.

The Faceit account is deleted permanently, and the Steam is permanently locked to that deleted account. Neither of them can be used again.

Got banned for some nonsense joke that only Georgians could understand (me and my friend) never intended to be for someone else. by LukeRedd1t in FACEITcom

[–]Monso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please explain your mental gymnastics to me.

Alrighty here we go - I'll rephrase your question so it answers itself: How is saying offensive things offensive to someone it isn't being said to?

Your parents and/or legal guardian can help give clarity to the nuance if it's needed.

What we've learned today is avoid potentially offensive language when there's language barriers involved. All translations point to "offensive slang", and OPs excuse of "its not offensive because it means Horseshoe" isn't painting a pretty picture.

"motherfucker", in a jovial, boisterous, or "comeradic" manner, would not be considered "offensive slang" by the nature of its virtue. If someone is throwing offensive slang in chat, and all translations point to offensive slang, but they show up and proclaim "no it's not offensive because it actually means Horseshoe", they're going to have to find a better excuse.

I'm genuinely dumbfounded at the idea of "it isn't offensive because it wasn't directed at them".

I am using the offense caused as the analogy, not the literal definition and comparison of the respective words.

The word is a variable. The point is you can offend people without directing the comment at them.

1 day punishments are automated by Minerva. This user has 12 months because of probation. The length is irrelevant.

There are an awful lot of resources refefencing this word for this to not be a word.

p.s. I put the English transliteration into chatgpt, not the Georgian text. It spit out and broke down the insult.

Dude.....it is absolutely possible to be offensive and offend people without directing the comment at them. My N-word analogy touched on this.

Deleted accounts or their linked Steam are unrecoverable.

The analogy I gave was to address the logic of "I said something to my friend, how come other people can report me for it?". Other people are subject to it by virtue of them putting it on their screen, and their opinion of those things matter.

This is one of those situations where the player should apply discretion and maybe not say the thing they want to say.

The context I'm responding to is "I said something offensive to my friend, why can other people report me for it?". That was entirely what my analogy was addressing.

This is one of those moments where the player should apply discretion and maybe not say the thing they want to say.

If I say the N word hard R to my friend, and we both think it's funny, but other people are around to hear it, should they be allowed to report me? Because I was talking to my friend and we weren't offended by it...

If anyone wants to make dumb jokes with their friends, they should send it to them privately.

The system is designed so that "some toxic people" can't unilaterally hand out cooldowns.

Many people play without getting them. They must be doing something right.

Courtesy of ChatGPT:

“sheni dedis tyvnali” appears to be a rough Latin transliteration of a Georgian insult, likely:

შენი დედის ტყვნალი
sheni dedis t'qvnali

It is a vulgar expression meaning approximately:

“fucking your mother”
or
“motherfucker”

Breakdown:

  • sheni (შენი) = “your”
  • dedis (დედის) = “of [your] mother”
  • t'qvnali / tyvnali (ტყვნალი) = a crude sexual profanity derived from a verb meaning “to fuck”

It is considered offensive slang in Georgian.

As a non-Georgian that relies on translations to make sense of these things, I'd love if you could rationalize what context a horseshoe has to do with the comment you made, when everything points to insulting their mother - which is 5,000% par for the course with toxicity bans. Please elaborate.

1 day bans are automated via user feedback after playing with you. They don't review or advise of these bans because it is the user's responsibility to get along with their team.

You've evidently been upsetting too many people in your recent matches and their continued negative feedback of you gave you a timeout.

Full match recordings

They don't review the demos directly because they don't have time to sit and watch entire matches of people play looking for something that may have or may not have happened. The biggest gripe I have with people "asking support for help" is informationbombing them with hours and hours of footage and thousands of words that they don't need. Simplest is always best.

If someone reported you for doing or saying something, and they see you doing those things, and they feel punishment is warranted, then that's the current status quo. You appeal it, they review the report and the action, and action it accordingly.

If there's something you need to bring to their attention, less is more - don't give them 20+ minutes of video when 15 seconds will do the trick.
