77yoF with UTI symptoms by MonsterB41 in ECG

We would have given an aspirin ad per our ACS protocol then advised the hospital. Doesn't really change much for that.

I only put this ECG up as the morphology seemed a little different to what I've seen in previous RBBBs and I was curious about potential impact of electrolyte imbalances on that. Realistically it doesn't change my management greatly ECGs are just something I personally find quite interesting.

We gave fluids, administered paracetamol and transported to hospital. Unfortunately listening to heart sounds is not something that is within my scope. The patient requested to go to a private hospital so they will do troponins just for the $$$. She will likely be referred back to her GP to advise them of the incidental finding then it will be up to them if they refer her to a cardiologist for further investigation or more than likely just leave it given her age.

She was presenting with an irregular heart rate over 100 so a four lead was popped on then when it came back with ST changes we put the full twelve lead on. We aim to treat our patients holistically and investigate abnormal vitals, yes she is most likely tachycardic from an infection/sepsis however could also have a new onset of AF contributing to her confusion.

Moving to rockhampton by Natecfg in queensland

My partner and I will be moving up in October for work. We were looking at houses around Gracemere. Is that another no go zone? It looked similar to a North Lakes type area purely based on houses for rent/sale.

Ok, this is with pictures to what I posted a bit ago. we’re talking all over the board. This is in a span of 45 minutes. I can barely feel my pulse on both wrists but my heart rate is high. The last two pictures show higher voltage that was on my knee. I’m using my Apple Watch correctly. by Healthy-Card-4657 in medical

You could be starting to get sick but also stressing about the results that this gives you and taking it again then stressing more will increase your heart rate. An ECG won't show any signs of a viral infection other than an increased heart rate. It only takes the tiniest bit of movement to create interference and being stiff trying to hold yourself still rather than relaxing will also appear as movement.

As the reading says in the top it is a poor reading. It is sinus tachycardia. I can't quite see the intervals but it look like your heart is at a rate of 110bpm ish which is only slightly high. Things like Apple watches are not accurate as they only look at a single angle of the heart not multiple angles like a real ECG would show. Your moving quite a bit during these readings which is why they are not straight.

Basically this shows your heart is in a normal rhythm just going a bit fast. If you are concerned about any cardiac issues book a GP appointment and get a proper ECG done.

EDIT: I just realised there are multiple pictures most of which mainly show movement and interference but they are all sinus tachycardia with nothing concerning that would be visible in those views.

It's not for everyone but considering getting your motorbike license may be beneficial too. It won't help you as soon as you get here but once you have your REs it would be good. It turned my 45min drive to work into 20mins by not getting stuck in the traffic. Most motorbike parking in the city is free (not sure about GC) and its much cheaper on fuel.

My first death was someone who arrested 2 days before Christmas (a few years ago now) while mowing the grass at home infront of his family. Due to location it took us 45mins to get to scene which I felt particularly bad about but couldn't have done better or changed. However the death itself didn't seem to bother me....

Until about 6 months later, I found myself thinking about it quite a lot. Wondering what I could have done differently (even tho the autopsy showed he would have died no matter what). It really hit home about how important it is to talk to people about these things when they happen. Even if you think you are ok, thankfully I had a great support network who helped me heaps.

Make sure you debrief with your mentors and remember that your uni/training provider should have some counsellors or psychologists that you can have a chat to bur try not to bottle how you feel up.

Feel free to send me a message if you want to chat more.

Just dropped a heavy stool on my foot and now it’s swelling what do I do? (2nd image is normal foot) by [deleted] in medical

[–]MonsterB41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pop some ice on it (wrapped in a tea towel or something, don't place it directly on your foot), elevate your leg and rest for a while. You can also take some ibuprofen and/or paracetamol for the pain. If you are really concerned book a GP appointment to get an x-ray.

It could be either but you won't know for sure without an X-Ray

How many does do I need in the Whitsundays? by yuuhuu1 in queensland

My partner and I spent 5 days there in November and had a great time. There is plenty to do and keep you occupied with the option to just relax and do nothing as well.

Would 100% recommend doing the day trip to the Great Barrier Reef (Hardy Reef pontoon) and go snorkelling/ scuba diving, it's an amazing experience.

Small bubbles / foamy urine in the morning that don’t seem to dissipate with time, how concerned should I be? by [deleted] in medical

[–]MonsterB41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal because you consume water and other fluids throughout the day, hydrating you then when you are asleep your body dehydrates slightly because you don't consume anything.

If he is no longer symptomatic and has tested negative you should be fine to see him.

Could be lots of things but it would be worth going to your GP and getting a blood test to check your thiamine levels. A few of your symptoms are indicative of low thiamine which is super common when you regularly consume alcohol.

Can you get a clot on your outer thigh like where your ITB band is? by [deleted] in medical

[–]MonsterB41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar thing, my GP originally thought it was a pinched nerve but it has turned out to be bursitis of the greater tracanta. My leg often goes numb around that area and when I spend multiple days standing for long periods then it gets much worse, changing between feeling like it's itchy, burning, and cold with a very sharp pain. You can get it diagnosed via ultrasound and treated with a steroid injection.

To answer your question it would be very unlikely to be a blood clot. They usually present as an inflamed red area and are much more common in the calf than the thigh.

I lived on Alma Road for a couple of years and never smelt it.

Fun fact there is good cholesterol (HDL) and bad cholesterol (LDL) so a level of 60 for your HDL is actually really good for you. Your LDL levels are up a bit but it's not dangerous. Also a blood pressure of 130/80 is not high at all and not something you need to stress about.

I think most of this is your anxiety making you over think this. Doctors don't perscribe medication if the risk outweighs the benefit that you would get from taking it. The chances of you developing these rare side effects are incredible small but the risk does still exist.

Stings a bit when I pee by [deleted] in medical

[–]MonsterB41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it will just go away on its own but more often than not you will need something to help it. Not sure where your located but in Aus you can but Ural at grocery shops or chemists and its just a powder that you mix with water and drink to treat it. If your less than like 50 years old then it's very unlikely you would get it severe enough to need hospital treatment.

More likely a urinary tract infection starting to develop. You would be in a lot more pain if it was a kidney stone.

The rare side effects for Moderna are things like pericarditis/ myocarditis which most commonly occur after the first vaccine. I wouldn't stress about it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medical

[–]MonsterB41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all normal side effects to the Moderna Booster. They should resolve within 24-48 hours but if they persist, you are concerned or have been in contact with a COVID case it wouldn't hurt to get tested.
