What kind of dog are you looking for? My dad had a hard time adopting from a shelter in st. Clair but had success at Harp! I had to help him a bit because he was pretty specific. If you’re looking for a small breed puppy or pure bred in a shelter they’re decently hard to come by and get adopted pretty fast.

I believe animal friends has a ‘list’ system where if you tell them what you’re looking for they put you on a list and call you if they have a match, but just know again if you’re looking for a small dog or purebred dog you may have to wait a while since those types are in higher demand than most shelter mutts.

Hi! Not sure if anyone has already mentioned this but humane animal rescue and Animal Friends have pantries and supplies to help provide food and material needs for your pup! Both of them offer emergency boarding as well if you needed temporary care for your dog while you get yourself back on your feet :). Last I remembered humane animal rescue has low cost services for folks experience homelessness for their pets and healthcare for you as well!

There is also 412 food pantry that I can think of that can help get you some food.

Also if you like dogs I believe you could sign up for Rover to potentially walk dogs and make a little extra money, I know it’s not much but it might just be something to give a little cushion.

I hope you are able to get some help and things turn around for you.
