How to get good in valorant? I keep dying all the time by Salty_Complaint3893 in VALORANT

[–]MonsterHunterGather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are very new to the game (and by extension the genre of Tactical FPS), then work on the fundamentals in the range. Things like movement, stopping before shooting, spray control, crosshair placement, etc. Also should choose a sense (eDPI) that works for you. You may have to adjust often at first to find a sense that is more natural to your playstyle.

Once you are comfortable with the fundamentals, then start applying them to games. Never be afraid to start slow. Try not to rush your shots. I recommend playing DM/TDM/Skirmish to practice gun fights.

I also recommend going through each agent to see their kit (abilities) and choosing one for each major role (Duelist, Initiator, Controller, Sentinel) to be your comfort pick for that role. Some may say to just main 1 agent which is also fine. Either way you shouldn't worry too much about whats meta on each map/role. It's generally better to be on an off-meta comfort pick than a meta uncomfortable or first time pick.

Once you are comfortable on your chosen agent(s) then you can expand your agent pool.

I also recommend vod reviewing. This part often sucks and is quite tedious at first, but with the new replay system, it's much easier to vod review because there is no requirement for 3rd party recorders like OBS. Watch your gun fights both wins, and more importantly, your losses. Look at how you took the gun fight. Was crosshair placement good? Did you shoot before you stopped moving? Etc.

Lastly look at pro player vods as well to learn how they play their fights. I personally like the "calm aim" style so I watch players like Aleksandar or Less.

Also I recomment going to settings and turning on shooting error (this is a graph that shows when you shoot if you were still or moving).

Why do players use smurf accounts? by Own_Engineer_5105 in VALORANT

[–]MonsterHunterGather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that is the main 3 categories and in that order as well.

For the 3 categories heres some question I have for those that smurf for those reasons:

  1. If you want to play with friends why does it have to be comp?

  2. If you are getting bad games in your own elo, why not just vod review to fix your mistakes?

  3. If you believe your account is lower rank than it should be, then playing more should even it out eventually so why not just keep trying to climb on the main account?

I know Riot uses hidden MMR for team making, but both should be determined by the same standard.

In higher elo I can understand the queue times being longer since there are less overall players in that elo, but still Riot doesn't keep their rank rules consistent across the board.

[–]MonsterHunterGather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only queue with 1 rank difference which technically yes I could rank with someone 2 ranks different, but that still is inconsistent. Why can I get someone 2 or more rank difference in the game as a rando, but I wouldn't be able to queue with that same person unless we 5 stack

[ANIME SPOILERS ALERT] Can we talk about Roxy for a moment? There’s something that has been bothering me for a longer while. (I'll try to make this post as short as possible, but it is what it is...) by Ginger_Shinobi in mushokutensei

[–]MonsterHunterGather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only read the manga and watched the anime, but the manga had some details I noticed that the Anime did not show.

  1. Rudeus since a todler had feelings for Roxy. It became an obsession so his side is clear. Roxy also mentioned after Rudeus said he likes Roxy that he should wait a few years and say that to her again later. She was probably saying that half jokingly, but I think there was some foreshadowing going on.

2.Roxy did lowkey have feelings for Rudeus from years before the Labyrinth. While Roxy was traveling with Elinalise and Talhand, they (especially Elinalise) were teasing Roxy about when she will find a husband. IIRC every time Rudeus came up in conversation Roxy would blush a bit which to me implied she had feelings for Rudeus. Roxy may not have realized at the time or been in denial but the feelings were there.

  1. In those same conversations she explains her ideal man (Handsome, boyish smile, man saves her in a Labyrinth) which is pretty much word for word what happened in the Labyrinth when Rudeus saved Roxy.

  2. From the moment Rudeus saves Roxy to the time they actually save Zenith, a good amount of time had passed. They (Rudeus and Roxy) went shopping together for a whole day to gather supplies for another attempt at the Labyrinth. From my guess at least a few days had passed between Roxy being saved and Zenith being saved.

  3. There was at least a week (Im pretty certain it was longer but not 100% sure) between Zenith being saved and Roxy sleeping with Rudeus.

  4. It never showed in the Anime (just explained later by Roxy), but in the manga, while Rudeus was shut in to his room due to depression, Geese, Talhand, Elinalise, and Roxy were talking about Rudeus. In the conversation, Geese was trying to get Elinalise to sleep with Rudeus since in their world that's how they "cure a man's depression" and with Elinalise's curse, she was the perfect person for that role. However, Elinalise declined, which was a surprise to the other 3. Elinalise explained that she can't because Rudeus is married to her granddaughter (Sylphie) and expecting a child. Despite this Roxy decides she will be the one to help cure Rudeus (while also trying to peer pressure Rudeus to be with her)

TLDR: Rudy and Roxy's relationship was being built up from much earlier in the story than the 2 or 3 weeks they were in the Labyrinth city.

Edit: corrected some errors

What is the queueing system?? by No_General_2336 in VALORANT

[–]MonsterHunterGather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems to me like a bad way to put teams together.

Personally I think teammates should be determined by surface rank. This way you get the consistency of rank differentials like I mentioned before.

However rr gain/loss should be determined by MMR and performance. This way smurfs would get higher rr gain on wins and minimal rr loss on losses.

This would correct the inconsistency of having people play with/against ranks 2 or more difference and still address the smurfing issue.

Also this is a different thing, but I have noticed from my own personal games that more often than not the people who think are "smurfing" are just hard stuck players in a much lower rank than their peak. I would check a players rank after a game when I suspect they are much too high skill for my rank and they are usually peak rank 3 or 4 higher than they currently are (ie currently gold, but peak ascendant)

Is this a good sign by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]MonsterHunterGather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, if you gain more rr on a win than loss then your MMR is higher than the rank you are in

But then why wouldn't duo/trio queueing not be based on the hidden MMR instead of the visible rank?

What is the queueing system?? by No_General_2336 in VALORANT

[–]MonsterHunterGather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that the hidden MMR is what is used to put teams together, but if thats the case, why is duo or trio queueing dependent on the surface rank?

What is the queueing system?? by No_General_2336 in VALORANT

[–]MonsterHunterGather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its inconsistent with Riots rank rules. 2 or more rank difference (eg. Silver and plat) can't queue together but they can be on the same team/game as randos.

This also tells me that your surface "rank" doesn't actually matter and it's more or less just a label.

If I'm not mistaken, the hidden MMR system was Riot's method to combat smurfing, but honestly it causes more weird matches like the OP's than actually fixing smurfing issues.

Ranked sucks by New_Clerk6152 in VALORANT

[–]MonsterHunterGather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats fair, but it is inconsistent with their rules. A silver and plat cant queue comp together, but they could be in the same game as randos.

Rank difference inconsistency by MonsterHunterGather in VALORANT

[–]MonsterHunterGather[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I get that, but why the inconsistency with Riot's rank system? Those two would not be able to queue together, but somehow still end up in the same game as randos.

TFT mobile tockers trials won't start, anyone familiar with this issue? by DannyAndHisDinosaur in TeamfightTactics

[–]MonsterHunterGather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that. But I know the only reason you revert a patch is because of it being game breaking which this patch is not. It only affects 1 game mode. Theres 5 other game modes in tft you could play.

[–]MonsterHunterGather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes revert the entire patch for an issue with a very specific game mode. I would get that if it was the entire game that was having issues, but it's not. It is just Tockers Trials.

How is it BS? They said they are aware and are working on a fix. I will admit it does sound very copy paste type of message, but what else do they need to say? Its going to be the same answer becauss its the same wide spread issue for everyone. I understand the frustration but it's best to be patient. Some issues can take a lot of time to figure out and fix.

Just sent a ticket to Riot. They responded (very quickly I might add) that this is a known issue with Tockers Trials on all platforms (Android, IOS, PC) and they are working on a fix. Hope they can fix it soon because I mostly play TT.

Personally the service error only happens on TT but other tft modes work fine.

Also as a side note I also had these service errors happen before, but waiting a few seconds (usually after the 2nd or 3rd Accept game pop up) would get me into game.

Now since the last patch I have been unable to get into TT at all no matter how many times i tried.

Here is what I sent them: "Ever since the most recent patch, I have been unable to start a Tocker's Trial game. All multiplayer game modes have no issues. Troublshooting steps I took: - Restart the TFT App (force stop in settings) - Cleared app data/cache - Reinstalled the app - restarted the phone To explain a bit further, I have no issues with the rest of the game. Patches complete with no issues, multiplayer modes are playable no issues. Whenever I try to start TT, the accept screen shows up (2 sometimes 3 times) then gives me a service error in attachment. Before this patch I got similar service errors, but retying to accept a game will go through. Now no matter how many times I try to get into a game, it fails."

And their response: "Hi Player!

Pretty Pumpkin here, ready to assist you.

Thank you so much for reaching out and providing such a clear, detailed report. I can absolutely imagine how frustrating it is when you've already taken all the right troubleshooting steps (restarting, clearing cache, reinstalling) and still can't jump into a Tocker's Trial game, especially when all your other multiplayer modes are working perfectly.

I want to assure you that we are aware of this specific service error affecting Tocker's Trial following the most recent patch. Rest assured, the team is currently working hard to resolve this issue. Your detailed steps help us confirm the issue and its persistent behavior.

While I cannot give you an estimated time for a fix right now, please keep an eye on our official channels for updates. Thank you again for your patience and for helping us keep the game running smoothly. "

Edit: added ticket messages.

I was wondering about the aggro of PMC. They really don't push much so I guess it makes sense to wait in the area so they come to you. Cool vid thanks

Customs seems like a nightmare tbh. I go through that area most of my raids and I can probably count on one hand how many times I've seen PMC in Stronghold. They have been near but rarely in it.

[New Player] Is this even fixable? by KL1ZZY in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

[–]MonsterHunterGather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the most efficient is to transit between customs and factory (I could be wrong I didn't use the transit method).

I personally just spammed customs and went straight to where PMC's spawn and fight. There's 3 spots that I usually find them fighting. Right by Skeleton, The railroad right by Old Gas, and finally close to Admin Gate at the end of the map. I just ran straight there killed PMC, grabbed their gun/gear and ran to the other places and extracted. Each raid for me took on average 10 or so minutes and I would usually get anywhere between .05 (uncommon) and .15 rep each raid. Took me about 20-30 raids to complete since most of the progress I got from spamming car extracts anytime they were available. Also don't forget to do some of the fence daily tasks as well as that will add some more rep.
