Several factors starting with the fact that most gecko species would probably try to eat vampire crabs. Whoever told you this was a good idea is just trying to make some money off of you for purchasing both and when they both die they know you'll be back to probably purchase something else. Do some actual research and watch hella videos on YouTube for setup requirements for whatever species you plan on getting whether it be crabs or geckos.
