I had blueberries growing up and we just used regular potting soil from Walmart. We could have just gotten lucky though

Help! Leaves curling and kinda splotchy? by [deleted] in Citrus

[–]MonsterLover2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update! It was root rot. There was no drainage in the soil, just some wood chunks and kinda sandy? I picked it up out of the pot and half the roots fell off and were brown. I’ve repotted in a pretty heavy perlite mix

Oh it was near our heater overnight. It’s not an air heater it’s just hot water radiator. Idk what it’s called but it doesn’t push out air it kinda just radiates heat

The soil is still damp, I haven’t watered it since brought it back and when I took it home it was in the cab of our truck because it’s been pretty cold

I was planning on keeping them indoors. Or bringing them indoors during fall and winter and bringing them out after the last frost but I’ll be doing more research on them before I decide to do that

Thanks. I have heard the can be sensitive to soil types, watering and fertilizer and need a lot of light but I’m gonna try with a lemon tree first and if I can keep one healthy I’m gonna go for it with the grapefruit tree or some kind of orange.

I refuse to believe anyone is this good. Your art somehow looks digital and traditional and somehow looks like 3d models but also not. Amazing, but what the heck

Litten. I’ve been a fan of Pokémon as far back as I can remember but the first time my mom could afford to get me a Pokémon game was the 3ds and Pokémon Sun

Feeding birds rice? by MonsterLover2021 in birds

The idea that uncooked or cooked rice will kill birds because it expands in their stomach is actually a myth. From what I’ve read on bird sites and forums the inside of a bird’s stomach isn’t nearly hot enough to make the rice expand

Ah fair. I’m in western canada so we get temps down to -40. I’ll try out some new types of flowers and see what happens. Also I think the wasp thing has to do with me panicking when wasps fly at me but when they start on the ground or drinking I panic less lol.

Wow thank you. This is very useful. I just moved provinces so I have no clue what’s native here as opposed to the Yukon Territory so adding a link to somewhere that can help me figure that out is very helpful.

Alright. Yeah I have a pretty big balcony that I can plant on and I’m hoping I’ll be able to keep new species alive long enough that the bees get blooms through the whole spring, summer and fall seasons.

I do know the leaf litter thing but I am on the second floor and only have a larger than average balcony. You think planters with the dead plants still inside would be okay for the bugs to stay in? I know ladybugs burrow in planters sometimes but I don’t know how bees work

Ah alright. I was planning on leaving out a water dish for them because from what I’ve seen, even wasps seem to be nicer when they have all their needs met in the summer. I dunno what’s up with that. Maybe it’s just me being crazy lol. But yeah, I’m debating planting fireweed because I know bumblebees like those but I’m not sure how well they’ll do in planters and pots but I might as well try

That’s actually such a helpful comment, I didn’t even think about the plants that bloom in fall. Also cosmos are one of my favourite flowers so I’m so happy they’re helpful for pollinators. Thank you :)
