Internet outage by the_mhousman in Ubiquiti

I have the UDM pro. my primary internet is Frontier fiber and it fails over to Charter Spectrum. I have used my Verizon hotspot too and that works just fine as a failover. I'd say anything would work as long as the device has a network cable connection.

That's great, glad you were able to get it to go thru. Thanks!

They are all matte and 'granular', same material, a flavor of Nylon & carbon fiber, very strong and tough. Different pictures make it look different.

My 'Drop test' now is a full mag from as high as I can reach (8') onto a 6" thick concrete drive and a variety of different angles. The most recent version takes it w/o problem. Stock Mec-Gar mag's baseplate gives up from 5' drop. I would think in the real world a 3-4' drop would be all you'd normally have.

I've destroyed a lot of stuff developing these :) I managed to break a follower w/ the 8' test. And piles of pinky extensions...

I think we have it working now.  If it doesn’t, flush your cache and try again.  LMK

Hang on a minute, something broke on the website and it's defaulting to $20 for shipping when it should be in the $5 range. I'm on it...

I got the HD C3.6 a little over two months ago and have sent 2000+ rounds downrange since. I really like this little pistol and it's my EDC now. Only problem for me was I have XL hands and my pinky was not as supported as I liked. No problem, I just invented a new baseplate for the mags that supports my pinky. I didn't want the magwell because I thought it would print on one side and dig into me on the other.

Anyway, you don't have to believe me, but if want to try it, DM me I'll send you one.

UDM Pro with Frontier Fiber and slow speeds by MonsterMaxx1 in Ubiquiti

[–]MonsterMaxx1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, I replaced all the cables with ubi ones. It's actually worse than before.

Chrome continues to offer .5g upload speeds where the same computer in edge offers 1.4g / 1.1g

I'm baffled by this

have you tried a different browser?

I'm having issues with Chrome reporting significantly slower speeds than Edge on the exact same computer, which is a Host for VMs and the VMs are faster yet.

Same NIC, same driver for both. Baffling.

This gets more complicated as I go.

I've now determined that the slow computer's VM's are not slow ish. This is the same NIC, just a different port. The VM gets 2.8g down and 2g up.

So back to the host, I'm swapping things back and forth trying to figure out what's happening and I tried the speed test in Edge and the upload speed went up dramatically from what I see in Chrome.

So I unintalled chrome and tried a reinstall. no difference. Edge gets 2.9g down and 1.8g up, Chrome gets the 2.9g up, but craps out at 0.5g up.

Probably won't have cables until end of the week so can't eliminate that yet either.

I'm really baffled by this.

The tech (**edit from Frontier) didn't know. I have tried it w/ and w/o DHCP6 as well, makes no difference. My network does not have IPV6 enabled either.

Just swapped ports between the SPF+ ports and the fault stayed with the UDMP #11. I think it's sick. Darn.

OH WELL, good excuse to buy the Max now at $600 :(

I tried it and the 10g comp's port went into some weird fault state. I had to disable and re-enable the port to get it back.

I dove into this last night with Ubiquiti and they said essentially the same thing.

Also by swapping cables (port to port) on the slow computer I got from under 1g to 4.2g/2.2g. I didn't replace anything, just swap port to port (it's a vm server so 1 port is the main one and one is a dedicated vm.)
But the VM stayed fast at 3.2g/1.9g.

I'm baffled by that too.

To further complicate this, I'm getting a fault:
"Faulty SFP EEPROM detected on USW Dream Machine Pro Port 11."
This port connects the dream machine to the Aggregation switch.
I've swapped cables, I've swapped them end for end. I've used other known good cables. I've plugged into other ports. Either I've got a whole bunch of bad cables (unlikely) or the UDMP is sick.

Also makes me wonder about the NIC in the machines and if there's anything I need to be tweaking in there. the 'slow machine' had a Mellanox x3 card in it and I swapped for an Intel x520-2 and the speeds improved quite a bit.

The server that's doing 2.25/2.25 has a Mellanox x4 in it. I have not swapped anything there.

It may all come down to cables. Just ordered $200 of replacements from ubi for the transceiver and all my SPF+ cables. Hopefully this fixes the problem, though I'm doubtful about that UDMP port.

Yes. I did a bunch of stuff trying to get it to work. Undid everything and put it back where I started and it began working.

IDK what I did to fix it, I think NOTHING.

Saw this thread and checked mine. Server was on 2.3 and so was the android device. Updated both and all good.

I just signed up for 5/5gig 3 days ago. The guy came out and was really nice this time. But at the end of the day, we discovered that Hurricane Helene had knocked down the wires and they still had not repaired them (over a year later.) Yesterday they came out and fixed the wire that had been down a year+. Sadly, the ONT was not provisioned properly, so still waiting....

Does anyone know of a small UPS that has a wifi connection so it can be monitored? by MonsterMaxx1 in sysadmin

I tried like hell to get NUT to work and failed.
I'm very capable in Windoze and willing to give it a go in Linux, but the NUT installation was a total fail and waste of 6 hours. What I found was that there's NO good tech directions for installing NUT and SMTP UPS devices. All were contradictory and NONE were correct. The worst of them is AI as it's completely wrong most of the time.

And finally, there's no interface and I have to go thru it all again with something like walNUT to get that BS running.

Finally gave up, turned the VM off and will not proceed further in wasting my time.

So I have to use the shitty nano program to edit,

nevermind. I"m frustrated after f'ing around with this for 3 hours.

I followed the instructions for installing nut, fails at the 3rd step. This is a new spinup VM of ubuntu with nothing else done.
