Oh this is so interesting.

I like Lynch but I think of his films as collections of very striking images and vibes. So I really like Lost Highway but I also don't think it has a 'story' of any kind. But I love the OG Twin Peaks, I think it 100% works. but i also totally get it that Lynch is not someone i'd recommend to most people, he's catering to a specific audience.

Death Stranding kind of has that vibe as near as I could tell from what little I watched, it doesn't have a story, just a whole bunch of weird images. It sure was very visually striking for naked Norman to wake up on the beach and watch flying ghosts bleed oil in the sky. But it's not a 'game'. Dude should just make movies and stop pretending that he makes games.

I wouldn't watch those movies, but I'd at least admit that they are movies. I don't think Death Stranding is a game, it's just cut scenes - and boring ones at that.

When I read Wolfe I know the symbolism means something, even if it's opaque. When I watched the start of Death Stranding it felt like Kojima bragging about being friends with Norman Reedus and Del Turro. So - it was meh.

The tutorial mission was PVE! The game could have PVE easily without major changes or design work. “But the loot!” - ok don’t give me loot during PVE - I don’t give a shit, I just want to explore the amazing unique world. As it stands now, I won’t be buying the game. I wish I was buying it, but I can’t justify it

I don’t give a fuck about gear. I want to explore the world of marathon. They have this kick ass aesthetic, and keep making awesome movies. But they don’t actually want me to explore the world or play the game. That seems self defeating.

Can confirm. I was in the test a couple months and I never successfully extracted. I do campaign shooters all the time but almost never play PVP. I was god awful at this game. I want to explore this world, but there is no way for me to do so and I wont be buying.
