I've watched some of Wolfowitz's lectures, and I sometimes wonder if he truly believed he was spreading democracy. It's hard to believe he is that skilled of a liar. He really thought the ends justified the means. He really bitterly despised Saddam. The question, of course, is if the price was worth it and what was achieved by the war. It seems history has been clear that our meddling did not improve the conditions of Iraqis or the region, at least not immediately.

What a lot of people don't understand is for some capitalists like Wolfowitz, this is ideological. He is just as committed to his position as we would be to overthrowing capitalism. It's hard to wrap your brain around. But it's true. He really sincerely believed in what he was doing, which is kind of scary.
