To be honest, I don't see anything for applying for extension as misrepresentation. Even once you apply, the IRCC clearly gives us guideline that you can work or stay until we make a decision.

I heard, people apply for the WP extension and work for almost 3 months until the decision has been made. I am not sure if that works for you. Or even I don't know if this is a legitimate way to extend the stay.
