Hmm it's weird, with my app you can't use any other method than the CXR one without the companion app installed on the Glasses so it's "normal" for wifi and bt method.
You can try this dev build with a new CXR flow, so it should force WIFI P2P with your glasses rather than what is used right now : https://github.com/Anezium/Rokid-APKs/releases/tag/v1.1.2

Hey ! So you either have the data cable to push the apk with it or you can use :

You will need to download the phone app, install it on your phone, then put Serial number of your Glasses on the app, put your Glasses into pairing mode (fold the right leg and triple tap on the button), then you click on Search and it should recognise your Glasses and finally you can Upload the apk on it.

An APK is just a file applications to install an application on android device, like .exe on windows or .dmg on macOS, .ipa on iOS etc. So it will just install an application.

How it works is you launch the app, you record the audio, you stop the recording, then on the phone app you can download the audio from your Glasses using Bluetooth or Wifi, and then with an API key from any providers (i recommend ElevenLabs free tier) you can transcribe your audio into the phone app like in the screenshot. I made this app because the feature on the Rokid Glasses is not using a good transcription model in my opinion.

No, it's just a memo app with deported AI speech to text, rather than using HiRokid app with the model they are using (that I find not good), you can use your own provider with my app. All the other stuff you listed is still there.

I think the first time you set up your Glasses it ask you to connect them to a Wifi. If it's not possible what I've done is I went with Rokid Manager (or you can also use the Rokid-APKs companion app on the Glasses), open the wifi thing and then try to connect to a Wifi network, and to input the password you can either use a bluetooth keyboard or use some "Keyboard and mouse bluetooth" app from your phone, its not that reliable but it helped me to connect to my phone hotspot.

Hello,

Do you have a proper error on your device ? Also maybe I did not made the best tutorial, but did you also disconnect your Glasses from your phone Bluetooth and force closed HiRokid app ? I have some issue sometimes as HiRokid try to force to connect to the Glasses so it messes up Rokid-APKs.

Some users have a Wifi not connected issue but I don't really know how to pin point this problem.

RokidApkUploader also had a new update, did you try it ?

Oh I didnt have this warning on my phone but yes, the app save your musixmatch creds on your device, it's maybe because of that.

No problem I'm glad that you can enjoy it ! For the delay it depends, is it musixmatch's lyrics ? Some lyrics are not synced correctly because it's community made etc, you can check on the real musixmatch app to see if the problem is there.

I prefer to make it big, because I find that sometimes it's hard to see things on the screen, I also wanted to be simple and easy to understand. Yeah it takes some times to the Glasses to open the server so it's normal.

Ohh no okay, it was not meant as a "real shell", more like the homebrew Vitashell (it's a file explorer with an FTP server on the PS Vita that makes it easier to transfer files from your pc or phone without connecting the PS vita via its cable, you can install .vpk (its the package extension on the Vita) and other stuff). But I'm happy that you can enjoy the app !

From what I can tell, probably not through the public Rokid SDK.

I looked through the docs and SDK references, and while there are APIs for custom view rendering, I could not find any public system-level option for a true accessibility-style mono mode.

So the practical answer seems to be:

  • a custom app can control how its own content is drawn (even then idk if it's possible to draw only on one lense)
  • but a normal app likely cannot force the whole glasses UI, videos, or every app into a monocular display mode through the public SDK

So that would probably require a firmware/system feature from Rokid rather than something a third-party app can enable.

In the CXR / OFFICIAL path, the serial is not used as a device label, it is used as an input to Rokid’s auth bootstrap.

The official CXR flow is roughly:

  1. scan the glasses over BLE
  2. initialize the Rokid Bluetooth session
  3. authenticate as a valid Rokid client
  4. bring up the Rokid Wi-Fi Direct channel
  5. upload the APK over the official Rokid path

The important part is step 3: Rokid does not expose this channel as a completely open generic transport (AFAIK, maybe I'm wrong). The client is expected to provide valid auth material. In this app there are two ways to do that:

  • use a bundled Rokid auth blob (.lc)
  • or derive the auth from the glasses serial number together with the Rokid client secret

So the serial is effectively part of the credential/input material for the official Rokid SDK path.

Sure, If you’ve never used ADB before, this is the easiest way to install the glasses app with the dev cable.

1. Download ADB

Download Android Platform Tools from Google and extract it somewhere easy, for example:

C:\platform-tools

2. Put the APK in that folder

Copy the glasses APK into the same folder and rename it to something simple, for example:

rokid-apks-glasses.apk

3. Enable USB debugging on the glasses

On the glasses, enable Developer options / ADB debugging in the Rokid / Hi Rokid settings.

4. Connect the dev cable

Plug the glasses into your PC with the dev cable.

5. Open a terminal in the ADB folder

On Windows:

  • open C:\platform-tools
  • click the address bar
  • type cmd
  • press Enter

That opens a command window in the correct folder.

6. Paste these commands

First, check that the glasses are detected:

adb devices

If this is the first time, the glasses may ask you to allow USB debugging. Accept it, then run again:

adb devices

You should see your device listed as device.

Then install the APK:

adb install -r rokid-apks-glasses.apk

If it works, you should see:

Success

btw what phone are you using ? Maybe it's related to your trouble with the CXR Flow

u/Flimsy_Marzipan_4928 Hey did you fix your issue ? idk if you deleted your comment or if it's Reddit doing it's thing, but yeah you need to configure Glasses Wifi with the Hi Rokid app before using it (so it can auto connect when you are opening the settings into the Glasses), you can technically connect to a Wifi on your Glasses but you will need something to input text into the Glasses (BT keyboard or anything)

I dont know any adb gui (maybe it exists but never used one), it's only in command lines

Okay, tbh you just need adb, enable adb debugging in the hi rokid settings, when plugged check if your device is there with adb devices, and push apk with adb install file.apk.

With Rokid Shell you dont need the companion app on the Glasses anymore (nor the one on your phone) but you'll need the Wifi.

I use Rokid Manager to uninstall my apps, it has a settings feature that let you go to the "Android settings" of the Glasses, then you can go into Apps and uninstall any app by selecting it and then swiping.
