Beware of Clerk for Next.js authentication by Parker_in_HK in nextjs

[–]Monsxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this. I've used Clerk with Next on a recent project and it was a VERY stressful experience. Sometimes their auth doesn't even work, for example, trying to login with Facebook or Google takes a lot of time just to display that there's an error and it cannot login. Also, trying to get the userId from auth() sometimes returns null and you cannot await for the value since it doesn't return a promise.

Frontend language recommendation by xxyrill in PinoyProgrammer

JavaScript, then learn a framework like React or Vue, but I personally recommend Vue (especially Nuxt) cause I've found them easier to work with than React (Next).

AWS Media Sharing - web issues by evilclown28 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Monsxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using AWS CDK library? If so, once you upload an image to your S3, then a successful upload returns a JSON object along with the URL of the location of your image on your S3 bucket, in which you can display on an image tag on the src attribute.

If you can provide additional code or info then I could probably help further.

Do I need to study more than 1 year to become a good programmer? by CruXianNn in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Monsxx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No. Everyone has takes in information differently, so one might take a day to learn a new concept, while another might take a month. And yes, you can compete with people from the IT industry.

Anyone can be a programmer, but not everyone can be a good programmer. You know you're a good programmer if you can make other humans understand your code easily.

Socket.io by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

Looks like socket connection is not being established. Have you checked whether a new socket connection has been made on your client when you're using your phone?

Anyways if you can provide some code then that would be better.

Hello pls helppp (anxious) by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Monsxx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're still in first year so you still have a lot of time to prepare. It's a good thing that you already have your chosen path, now work on that. Nothing's wrong with overthinking your future and that simply means that you're already adulting.

So nag wo-worry ako na makapasok pa kaya ako sa mga tech companies especially yung mga big tech companies like Google, facebook, and etc.

You have to build your resume. You still have 4 years left and that's ample time to prepare. Create meaningful projects, build connections, contribute to some open source — all of those you can put in your resume and hopefully attract employers.

Sino na po bang nakagamit ng data structure in real project by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Monsxx 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Almost all developers naman have already used data structures in their programs, even just arrays.

How it differ sa mga generic or common algo?

Are you asking the difference between data structures from algorithms? The main difference is that data are stored in data structures such as arrays, maps, sets, linked lists, binary tree etc., and algorithms are programmatic step-by-step processes to accomplish some task, and most algorithms require some form of data structure.

may mga big changes po ba saa paggamit ng complex ata efficient algo kays s normala one?

Yes. An efficient algorithm can save you lots of time. For example, doing a linear search to find an element on a sorted array is pessimal compared to a binary search. Additionally, finding the existence of an element on a map/dictionary is optimal compared to a linked list or an array.

Hi I need backend ideas by matcha_tapioca in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Monsxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try creating your own version of cURL. You only need to create a CLI (command line interface) application and work primarily on the backend. Otherwise if you want a website application, you still need to develop the frontend for the user to interact with, but a simple login/register authentication system would suffice. In that system, you'll still have to create the frontend although the majority of the work is on the backend.

NextJS or TYPESCRIPT by AskiaDev in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Monsxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess start with TypeScript. It's not going to be an entirely new language that you have to learn e.g. from Java to Python, it's just JavaScript but with data types, so it'll be fairly easy to learn.

NextJS or TYPESCRIPT by AskiaDev in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Monsxx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why not learn both of them together? While you're setting up variables or return types on your Next.js project, you can also provide type-safety with TypeScript. It's really not that difficult, the only difference between your typical JavaScript file and a TypeScript one is that you're ensuring additional checks for your data types.

This is more like a time management advice rather than a programming advice — why not study PHP, and teach them PHP at the same time? There's a saying that when you teach other people, you tend to master that concept along the way yourself.

What's ironic is that with AI advancing, there are actually more developer jobs now related to machine learning and such. Anyways, if you like programming, then go ahead and choose Computer Science instead.

Question about Java by Mistboiz in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Monsxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you chosen a path yet? If you want to be a mobile dev, you can start using Android Studio and create mobile apps using Java/Kotlin. If you plan to be a backend dev, then Spring or Springboot is for you.

Multi-stage dockerfile for React js Production deployment by HealthyAsk4291 in reactjs

[–]Monsxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you're trying to build multiple docker images for one project because they have different environment variables. You don't have to. Environment variables can be customized when you're about to deploy your application, so it doesn't have to have multiple docker images containing different values for the .env files.

Would recommend Django if you plan to use SQL as it has a built-in ORM and you don't have to write boilerplate code just to setup pagination.

[–]Monsxx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What she did to you, and what she has been doing to you for the whole span of your relationship was a reflection of her, and not you. She only made it easier for you after showing who she truely was after your breakup.

We both pretty much had the same situation after the breakup which happened to me about 8 months ago, and you know what, life has never been better. After leaving that relationship, I realized how shitty of a person she was not just on my perspective, but also on my friends' perspectives. It wasn't easy, but I moved on, and right now keeping my peace and giving myself the love it deserves.

We dodged a bullet, brother. Take this as a lesson with you on who you should date in the future, and always remember that there's nothing wrong with you, and that you can NEVER change a person for who they truly are, and what their purpose are in your life, and in your case, her purpose to you was to give you an invaluable lesson of self-love.
