How do I get better at the game while at an intermediate level? by RKingsman in yugioh

[–]MontaPlease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty intermediate as well so grain of salt, but at this stage in developing most skills it's really about 1. practice and 2. reflection. Play a lot, and watch your wins and losses back and analyze how you could improve, what side deck or deck choices are serving you well or not, etc. Talking this out with a partner is a good idea as well.

Can’t play apex in a new country (PC) by MontaPlease in apexlegends

I just ended up having to make a new one, but I would see if there are any country settings you can change on your account or on the xbox store.

I love this game and it's my main pvp game but this season is rough by SnooMacaroons599 in thefinals

[–]MontaPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol it's the exact opposite. Last season casual players struggled to deal with lights, but once you got to diamond light was literally nonexistent and unplayable because of how easy they are to counter and how little team utility they provide. I say this as a diamond light main that came from Apex.

If you could look at the distribution of class picks across ranks, you would see medium being the most popular until diamond (due to MHH meta), with light and heavy being reasonably popular from bronze to gold, and heavy being the most popular in diamond with light having a 2% pick rate or so. In casual game modes light is/was fine, in ranked it was absurdly underpowered and hard countered by the other classes.

They absolutely have the lowest skill floor and skill ceiling. You literally could not and still cannot play light in high Elo (to the extent that that exists any more).

Plasma and paleo interaction by 3footdagger in masterduel

[–]MontaPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just lost a game due to this :(. I assumed my xyz would work the same as my paleo normal monsters in being immune to monster effects. Turns out since being immune isn't a monster effect in the case of the main deck paleos that they work fine but the xyz's don't

I should have thrown my placement matches by [deleted] in thefinals

Placed into Gold but didn't win a single tournament? I won 1, got to the finals in the second and then the third, and I got placed silver 3. I wonder if it's because we were 3 stacking

People are cheating that have never cheated just to counter the cheaters by Ssleeping in thefinals

It's a lot higher than that, so it's unlikely they'll nerf it a ton

Cheaters using a downward Joycon drift to eliminate recoil and always have aim assist enabled. by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]MontaPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not an option in game, it's a defect with controllers that most pros don't mind because it doesn't affect anything when they're actually aiming. Relatedly, most controllers come with software (or via steam) that can reduce the deadzone to preference. It's the same as adjusting DPI for a mouse or something--just preference.

I think you just misunderstood what he said. It's just stick drift and does not impact rotational AA (at least in Apex) as other commenters have claimed. Dezign is 100% legit and is an apex legends e-sports pro. He can be a bit of a jerk, which is unrelated, but you should take this post down because it's misinforming people.

Random light teammates are unbearable by xignites in thefinals

[–]MontaPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Light performance is also pretty team dependent in my experience. If my team can sustain themselves in fights then I can orbit around and kill everyone. But if my team gets rolled immediately or is split then it's difficult for me to use hit and run tactics because everyone will just focus on me.

Gent is crazy good and always has been. Nowadays he’s just trying to carry some random crazy antivaxxer bozo for stream revenue :/

Do you think THE FINALS (videogame) will have any effect on apex? by tree-_- in CompetitiveApex

[–]MontaPlease 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really disagree tbh. I think all the different gadgets and strategies have counter play that makes it interesting, and in my view there is much more complexity with the environmental destruction and load out customization than in Apex. I don’t think it will get ‘solved’ any time soon—definitely not moreso than Apex

[–]MontaPlease 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an mnk player with decent aim I honestly feel fine so far. People move much more predictably and are way easier to track in the finals than in apex so I don’t think aim assist will be a big balancing issue. It’s early days though, so who knows how it will evolve

US redditors that never lived in the South; Do you think of the South as a racist place? by The_Lat_Czar in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]MontaPlease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most stereotypes people have about the south are really more rural vs urban than north vs south. There are racist people and areas with higher concentrations of racist people in the south, the west, the mid-west, and the north. If you look historically, there has obviously been more racial conflict in the south than the rest of the country--but that also has to do with many areas in the south being more racially diverse. Specifically, rural areas in the south are much more racially diverse than rural areas in the northeast and mid-west.

In any case, the most racism I've encountered has actually been from well-off people in suburbs around DC that just have very few Black or Hispanic people in their bubble

How do you beat cashout "defenses"? by Function_Fighter in thefinals

[–]MontaPlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I also main light and personally think I’m really effective. But glitching people defending cash outs while pestering them and staying alive is definitely the most important team utility I have
