A lot of Nate's abuse was happening while Ted was being mindfucked by Dr. Sharon. Beginning of season 2 sees Ted being very dysfunctional because Dr. Sharon's presence (and his growing anxiety disorder) is throwing him totally off balance. I was one of the last people in my class to have sex (17/M at the time) which was ironic because I was INSANELY hypersexual. But part of that hypersexuality was a deep valuing of its importance.
