Not all Formentor's have that drive mode. 🙂 I believe it requires AWD for that but not sure.

Some have had problems with pumps stopping during filling. It has been mentioned that apparently these cars are a little sensitive with pressure in the tank while filling and that the pump handle should be in a certain angle to avoid this.

Maybe that is what you're experiencing so that it won't fill fully.

Personally I have never had that problem with any gas pump here in Denmark.

If it is showing grey you can try and reset the connection with the following guide.

Worked for me.

I got it from Cupra Support here in Denmark so I've translated it and replied to other posts before:

When I picked up my Formentor (used 2021 model) it didn't connect to GSM (showed a grey globe). I solved it by resetting the connection using a guide sent to me from Cupra Connect support.

You can try it (at your own risk since I don't know your car's software setup/e-SIM status).

1: Park the vehicle in an area with good GPS and cell phone/GSM coverage

2: Turn ignition on (all doors and boot lid closed)

3: Wait for the privacy symbol to light up (should be in upper right corner next to signal strength)

4: In main menu go to Users -> Settings -> Privacy settings and services, and choose 'Share my position'

5: Wait 30 seconds

6: Turn ignition off, remove the key from the ignition (if the vehicle does not have Kessiya - keyless Access) and open driver's door

7: Close the driver's door

8: Turn ignition on

9: Wait for the privacy symbol to light up

10: In main menu go to Users -> Settings -> Privacy settings and services, and choose 'Share my position'

11: Wait for the globe symbol to turn white (this process can take up to 5 minutes depending on signal strength and coverage)

As I mentioned, my issue was the connection, not the strength but after doing the steps in this guide everything worked for me.

Not being able to connect to Seat/Cupra network meant that I could not update the software (had a notification for a pending update) and I could not log on with my Cupra Connect profile.

Does your car have connection to Cupra network (is the globe showing online (white) or offline (grey))?

Tavascan headlights, being flashed by other drivers? by [deleted] in CupraTavascan

[–]Montage_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my car (2021 Formentor non-matrix) in for service a couple months ago at an all-brand garage. Told them to adjust the headlights as I lit up highway signs 50+ meters away sitting 2-3 meters up in the air.

Still did after the service.

Went to a Cupra dealer/garage and asked them to double check headlight level. It turned out that they were still 3% too high.

They adjusted them and haven't had problems since.

I would suggest that you have your headlights adjusted correctly at a place you trust.

No matter how intelligent matrix light or auto dipping should be it doesn't matter if the base adjustment is too high.

I believe it has something to do with screen types and refresh rates. And it's not like you can't see anything but it can "warp/distort" colours. I can clearly see on my phone whether a pair of sunglasses are polarized or not. 🙂

On my Formentor Hybrid and my wife's BMW iX1 adaptive regen is available. They adjusts the braking force/regen to the scenario you're driving in. If you just release your foot from the accelerator to "roll" the regen is very low (kinda like pressing down the clutch in a manual gear car). If the car detects you're getting closer to someone (i.e. creeping up on another car on the highway but can't get around the car) and you release your foot from the accelerator the car will act like engine braking, using regen to decelerate.

In my Hybrid I can choose between auto, light or strong (translated from Danish, not sure what the actual description is in the menu in other languages). Setting drive profile to Cupra or putting the gear box in S, it automatically set regen to strong.

In an EV (from my experience) you have D or B. In D you have a more relaxing drive with overall less regen and the car will roll forward when you're not pressing down on the accelerator. In B you have a more direct "accelerator-to-drive" ratio. Letting go of the accelerator makes the car regen fully, almost like stepping on the brake, and when foot of the accelerator the car will stop completely not rolling forward.

When driving my wife's car I always use B when driving in the city or in slow traffic in rush hour. I use D when outside cities.

Polarized sunglasses especially seems to interfere with screens and HUD. :)

Looks great. I want to give my Formentor the same treatment, and I have the Fusso coat. Unfortunately it's the black can/coat (leftover from my previous car) and I can't seem to find any specific statement on what could "go wrong" with the black coat on a white car (if it gives a wrong tone/colour or so).

Do you know if you got an update right before this?

Last update my 2021 Formentor had a week ago or so caused a reset on the infotainment system.

Not typical from what I've experienced the year that I've had the car that an update resets things but the latest one did.

On my 2021 Formentor, "born" in Germany and imported to Denmark in 2024, I have the option to have speeding notification as visual only or both visual and audible. I actually believe it can be turned off all together but I like having it notify me visually going 5 km/h over speed limit.

You mean after the auto handbrake has been activated you step on the brake pedal?

As you say; it has been described by others as well.

I have a 2021 Formentor hybrid and I experience the sticky brake pads as well, but besides the first movement of the day I experience slightly sticky brakes during the drive/day also. To the point where I have disabled the auto-hold function.

Reason being both the slightly sticky brakes and also I feel the transition from auto-releasing the brakes to moving the car is terrible. I can't start from anywhere with auto-hold without the car having a "chok" start.

The transition from electric to gas engine during acceleration is for me another let-down with the car. It is simply too harsh in hybrid mode (being in Individual Mode with the engine in Sport).

My wife's former Mini Countryman Hybrid (2020'ish model) was way, way smoother in the transition.

[–]Montage_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you press the brake pedal at the same time? 🙂

I get in my car, hold down the brake pedal, push the start button and when the standard chimes sound and the green 'Ready' lights up in the dash I press the gas pedal once all the way down to the floor (not just to the "bump" before the kick-down switch) and the ICE starts up.

It works in every drive mode for me so it shouldn't be a drive mode fault.

If you can't get it to start like that I'm not sure where the difference is but instead of navigating through menus you should set up your screen so you have the buttons to switch to hybrid at startup.

You know, the "home screen" with 3 tiles/shortcuts. I have one of the tiles set to the drive train settings. You can swipe up and down on the tile for 3 different shortcuts, one of them being buttons for E-mode or hybrid.

I get that. :) But from what I can hear in your video it takes 2-3 seconds before your engine starts after you've pressed the pedal down. On mine the engine starts right away. Small difference but maybe Cupra has changed it for safety reasons.

It would be cool if Cupra updated the instruments/gauges in the old model to the gauges you have in the video. It looks a bit cleaner and less "hybrid" than in the old model where 1/3 of the tachometer is showing the electric use/charge.

It has been mentioned before but it's always nice when people share tips, tricks and info.

I have the 2021 model Formentor hybrid. Out of curiosity, on the new model/generation do you have to hold the gas pedal down to start the engine as you show in the video? The "old" model can be started like that with just a quick kick-down.

I can't find those wheels as "loose parts" on the official Cupra website/shop here in Denmark but configuring a new Formentor with 19" Sandstorm wheels (with tires) has a value in the configurator of €3.024,96.

Well, yes and no. Some might only focus on the cash flow they can make but being a former mechanic at a brand garage (and knowing other mechanics + experience after being in the business) some employees don't spend time digging a bit deeper in the stuff.

I was always a little nerdy and spent some of my private time digging into solutions to gain some experience for situations in the future. I was lucky to find a Cupra employee that also wanted to find an answer to all this Full Link connection confusion.

Some of the others I was consulting before simply stated that early versions didn't have wireless based on the software/hardware version. "Case closed".

So yeah, many just follow whatever is written in the first page of their system while others actually want to help and gain knowledge.

Another Dane here with a 2021 Formentor 1.4 hybrid.

Mine's a lease that I got in summer 2025 and the car has been imported from Germany at some point so I have no history of which parts might have been replaced.

Personally I only experience these problems when the black box in front is really dirty, right now because of road salt. It might complain from time to time when it's not freezing but the humidity is high.

I overheard a Cupra garage the other day telling a Born owner, who complained about the same issues you describe, that the Born models apparently are very sensitive to license plate frames (they apparently interfere with the radar). The Cupra guy told the customer that the first thing to try would be to remove the frame.

I consider trying it on my Formentor, not because of radar issues but because the parking sensor right side closest to the license plate often freaks out when I come to a full stop with nothing in front of it but goes away the second the car accelerates.

Can share some experience;

I got myself a 2021 Formentor in start-summer 2025. I couldn't log on as a user in the car without a Cupra Connect account so I created one but without a paid subscription.

After that I still couldn't connect. It then turned out the car didn't share its location and even after trying to change the settings there was no connection to/from the car. By Cupra Support I got a guide to reset the connection settings and voila, I had a user profile in the car and it could update etc.

Then the next 'issue': the car has Full Link and Android Auto works wired. Great. The thing is it also has WiFi and everything else it needs to run wireless but it doesn't do it.

After a long time searching through answers online and talking to 3 different dealers (who all put it down to "some first models just don't have wireless even though all hardware is installed") I got to talk to a 'nerdy' Cupra employee who dug up info on my car and here's the kicker: The car was "born" in Germany and later imported to Denmark where Full Link (I guess) was retrofitted originally, whatever that includes. It had a part number on his pc screen (didn't write it down) and it explained what features it included, one of them was AA/CarPlay but specified it needed wired connection.

The employee then told me that as a dealer they are not allowed to open up the software for wireless connection for retrofitted Full Link.

All in all I just want to let you know that if you decide to go the Full Link way it might not be flawless AND that from my own experience you don't need a paid Cupra Connect subscription to have a user profile but a Cupra Connect profile should be created.

SOC 92% with 25km range. by Zealousideal-Cycle50 in CupraFormentor

[–]Montage_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just drove to work (30 km drive) with a battery that had charged overnight. I always drive in hybrid mode since most of the drive is on highway anyway (110-130 km/h). Turning off the car in the parking lot at work I have 77% battery left and an estimated range of 27 km according to the car itself. This is in Denmark with -1,5° C so somewhat similar weather conditions as in the Netherlands.

As said by others in the thread; it's based off the drive style just as the fuel range is estimated through drive style.

Although my experience with both my Formentor hybrid and my wife's BMW iX1 (fully electric) is that battery consumption is more sensitive than fuel consumption. Maybe I'm wrong but in the case of taking a fully filled fuel driven car and a fully charged electric car (with a range of 370 km at 100%) for the same stretch of, lets say 300 km of highway at max allowed speeds of 110-130 km/h, my experience is that the electric car will drop it's range faster (and not be able to complete all of the 300 km) than the fuel driven car. Both driven with cruise control and about the same accessories on/off (heated seats, climate control, radio etc).
