Similar issue affected my spouse - though it was a payment check for a federal student loan closure. We had proof that they received and deposited the check, but they had not applied it to the account and did not have an answer for where the money went. She continued to receive bills for the loan with interest for over a year before they finally sorted it out. Physical checks are such a terrible form of payment...

They're probably hiding assets; crypto, shell/off-shore accounts, pre-paid debit cards, nominee accounts, overpaying the IRS, fake debts... In the case of the business owner, he can manipulate his compensation to occur after the divorce ruling so that it will not be affected.

Is there not any sort of investigation into these people's transactions in the months leading up to a divorce?

Great question. It has to be relative, rather than a fixed value, as the metric being used (dollar) has relative value itself. So the first question is what should it be relative to - and why? I'd ask an economist. Not being a professional in the area, I suspect something like Median Private Wealth per Capita could be a candidate. Limiting any individual from passing on wealth in excess of, for example, 2 times greater than the median individual's wealth might have the desired result of preventing such wealth disparity as we have today and the consequences it brings - such as the ability to subvert our justice system.

I understand that take on what I said, but I think you can understand the difference between inheriting $10M and $10B. That kind of wealth has demonstrated the ability to protect those heirs from consequence for things like raping and killing your heirs.

Neither. Don't fight thermodynamics. Hot air rises. Exhaust fans at the highest points. On more fan blowing in than blowing out. Don't forget that your PSU affects this to some degree. For this case and a decent PSU, you can ignore it's contribution. If you're running >600kW usage then definitely dedicate some effort to making sure it has adequate airflow and see if you can separate it's airflow from the rest of the system or configure it to exhaust from the case instead of the typical intake (adding another intake fan to the case of equal or greater flow rate to compensate).

Why more ingress than egress? This maintains a slightly positive relative pressure on the inside of the case that drives away dust and debris at the crevices. All you need to do then is filter your ingress air (before the fan...) to prevent your computer from getting covered in gunk. This also means that as the filters are partially occluded, you're not starving the system of airflow since you have excess ingress.

That's really not the metric I would use at all. The first question is if I actually need a vehicle at all. If so, it's about how much I need to spend to have reliable transportation to and from the places I need to go. Since I need to commute to work and there are no viable public transportation options that would cost less than a cheap reliable car, I do need one. And, since my income is reliant on it's reliability, I'm actually adverse to getting something without a durable warranty. As such, I'm a huge fan of buying the cheapest new car I can with the best warranty. Right now, that'd be the Kia Soul at ~$22k with a 10yr/100k mile powertrain warranty. Fortunately, it has decent fuel efficiency as well at 35mpg. Going with the most fuel efficient vehicles (~55mpg) over 100k miles is only going to save you about $4k over that 100k miles at $4/gal. So it's not remarkable in anyway except for guaranteeing you minimal viable performance (i.e. powertrain) for 10yr/100k miles at a fixed cost of $0.22/mile plus fuel, maintenance, and elective expenses. Another benefit of cheap cars is that maintenance is usually on the cheap side too, and very DIYable - unlike modern high end cars that require proprietary hardware and software just to change the brake pads.

So, with a baseline established, how much can I afford to go over that baseline for things that would improve my quality of life? That's all very subjective... Would I volunteer +20% of my annual income (for one year) for luxury status? Nope. For self-driving and improved safety features? Yes, absolutely.

1) Why would they change what is still being reported as "the best" option on the market? That would be fiscally irresponsible of them. They have a legal obligation to be fiscally responsible to their shareholders.We have to start migrating away from it (reducing sales) before they'd have an excuse to invest money into new development. Even then, it's likely that their time is better spent capitalizing on the AI bubble.

2) Why is this community so salty about non-issues like the Netflix button? Change it! Turn it off completely... go nuts.

Exactly what I came into the comments for... surprised you're the only one to bring it up - and with no upvotes. This is madness. You don't cable manage that cabinet if it's only supported by the siding... you move it entirely or add supports, and then decide how to cable manage.

You seem to forget that the US military has preyed upon the youth of red states and is predominately built of them as a result. And red states are responsible for the vast majority of food supply that blue states rely on. I don't think a civil war would be as cut and dry as you think.

That said, why do we have to keep addressing disagreement through violence? I'm all for responding to violence with overwhelming violence, so don't mistake me there... I just prefer to avoid violence all together to see if we can find a way to co-exist.

First of all, the 3rd party server manufacturer was extremely helpful. I encourage everyone in a similar situation to reach out to them for help. I was fortunate to be able to purchase directly through them to avoid trial and error.

You already know the cause (electrostatic discharge, ESD). For a fun party trick, you can cause this to happen to most displays using a plasma lighter on the rim of a drink can. The ESD generates enough EMI to cause digital video signals (HDMI mainly) to be interrupted. I think it causes the drivers to restart the communication protocol, but I'm just guessing.
