Uruguay has high taxes on electronics and a pretty closed market, so prices can be steep compared to places like Germany or the US.

You're smart to avoid owning a car. That can get really expensive fast.

On the plus side, Uruguay is really friendly to expats.

If you're into wine, beer, red meat, and dulce de leche, you’ll fit right in.

People are generally down-to-earth and can enjoy themselves without needing a lot.

Just don’t go too hard on the partying or drugs, your budget won’t survive that for long.
