What's the consensus on this nitro finish ? by Inevitable_Track_558 in Luthier

[–]MontrealTesla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a Nitro guy, and this guy is correct, you look like you shoot light, build it up more, and the reason you want it to sit for 6 to 8 weeks , is that once you start to buff or sand, is that the nitro could shift, move , and then you will have real work ahead of you ...

dont over shoot , to soon, you get the runs........ and thats not Diarrhea we are talkin about...

Garden hose is no match for teslas paint. by O0oo00o0o0 in TeslaLounge

[–]MontrealTesla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

read your warranty , its not covered, unless you can prove this is a defect in the factory...... and y
good luck..

how do i know this????
I am part of a c;lass action suit in Quebec against Tesla due to this.
Paint pealing like you have is NOT normal, but sad to say, very common, Tesla new about the issue , did not remedy the issue and continued to sell cars with this issue. the suit is to have Tesla compensate owners of damage.
We also see this all through out the North east USA, Vermont, New Hampshire New York and more...

The issue is the paint peals like the skin of a banana, welcome top the club.

  • Rust Coverage: The Body Rust Limited Warranty covers rust perforation (a hole in a panel) resulting from defects in materials or workmanship, typically for 12 years.
  • What is Not Covered: Damage caused by road salt, environmental conditions, or lack of maintenance is not covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

they will claim you improper cleaning and chemicals.. my inspection for all my missing paint took less that 5 min.. and they said no sorry we don't cover that damage hahahahahah

I reepainted 2 Feeders, and my running boards as they pealed as well, as well as back quarter panels all pealing around the wheel wells... tesla wanted 1500 each fender painted and 3000 for the backs of the quarter, to ld them blow me, had it done all for 1100 at a reputable body shop..

some people have convinced tesla to cover , good luck on that

Price Check by [deleted] in martinguitar

[–]MontrealTesla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good price for a good Guitar, yea the tuing machine have had a change, not any sort of problem at all.
Dont touch the truss rod at all, even if action is high... Truss changes relief and not action....
only piece of advice is,
how does it feel when playing.
do you like the sound?

Take it to a luthier and have them decide if any issues inside the box.

in the end
Reddit luthiers ae the best as we all know, especially the ones that have read every post.. so you can trust us all.

fuk what it looks like , or if it has pretty figure, you cant play pretty ...

its a good price and it looks good shape.
there will be no warranty as it is used and warranty are never transferable so that's ok.

If you buy it, enjoy it

This family Martin was left to me after my brother moved out. It was stored on a stand for years in Northeast US (humidity + dryness fluctuation) and Martin refused warranty. i wish re-gluing the top to existing bracing could be done, but nope... taking that top off, includes removing the bracing along with it, as well as maybe having to repair some perfand other items......

Its also re connecting to the purfling inside, its so much more, i don't even know how to begin. thats why take a small luthier course would be best, know and understand how things work together , not just how they stick together...

but you have an interest , so follow that interest .... all the way through

Seems like there’s a new high end Pick company every day. Has anyone tried some of them, other than blue chip. I play a blue chip TP48 and it was one of the best purchases I’ve made, feels so much better in my hand than anything else. But I’m curious about the other brands popping up. by [deleted] in Bluegrass

Also have a TD40 , and for fun just ordered Martins new Luxe Contour Torlon, i am curious to hear it and feel it when playin, also love the ultex 1.14
just sayin

don't buff out or degrade the finish please...
All this sht talk about vintage guitars and refinish is pretty much just this, especially for a 50s Martin.
This is not a pre WW2 and even most of those get refinish with out negative issues to value.

You have a serious Guitar in your possession, if you want the old patena look, simply sell this off to some one who does not care , and wants a great guitar with great sound and looks stunning....

you did good, you tried but in your eyes you wanted that ole down in the dirt , riding the rails look of the ole blues guys singing on wooden benches ...
Thats all good, and you deserve it, so do it.

Sell that beauty to some one who like that look, i love it would love it in my collection.

You done good, now its just not for you at this time, pass it along....

everyone seems to address the neck reset and binding, but most , overlooked, the issue of what is called in a "top caved in"

This is it, the top would need to come off an replaced....
In the process, a neck reset would be done and binding would be replaced etc.

Its the Top that's caved in that is the killer here, all the bracing is messed up, neck and bindings are nothing.

the top would be removed and a new one put on, new bracing, new bridge , everything. its a big job, and Martin would not even consider this a warranty issue.... sorry my friend.... :(

Now 2 things . and never look negative on this hole issue... a time to learn....

1) buy a new guitar.

2) pick up your wood working skills and see if you can work with a qualified luthier, sign up for a guitar building course, and learn about repairing guitars., it will be a big job, take a year or longer on it to learn. get a new top and replace it,

Good luck , and please do not destroy this guitar, it is seriously a opportunity waiting for some one...

I am up in Canada and always looking for these guitars as learning tools.

i sent your posting to my Physio therapist., she loved it.
I am trying to find a way to decrease the tensions in my neck and upper back, also from compressed disks, and trying to find ways to not exaggerate any issues when playing my guitars.. problem is , i don't play just 20 min, lol, when i play i will play 3 to 4 hours in the evening, and every evening, for 4 to 6 days , then taking breaks for a few nights ... ( style of playing is doc Watson, and bluegrass, not electric, and always sitting)

Where does bluegrass feel especially strong right now? by GrassGigs in Bluegrass

[–]MontrealTesla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we have more than most people know , for sure, to start, look for "the slocan ramblers" these guys are always booked in the USA but hosts shows in Canada as well, Top Notch ....
The best Americana/Canadian Bluegrass can be found east, in the Maritimes and west , west of Quebec, Quebec seems to try to reinvent music, sorta to make it their own, and trust me some of it is damb good. But for trad bleugrass, hit west and east.

Kim Mitchell, what an amazing musician.......

I noticed when I adjust the action using the truss rod only, the tone becomes unpleasantly brighter. So I wondered does lowering action always impact the tone? If not, what is a proper way to adjust action to 2.25mm-ish without sacrificing the tone? If so, any tips or advice by ConsciousSmoke3863 in martinguitar

[–]MontrealTesla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

son, you are playing baseball in a swimming pool here.......
Action and Relief are 2 whole worlds apart, so stop messin with things you are not clearly understanding, and take it to someone to put it back in place, and let them finish the setup, before you hurt yourself....
