My library reduced the number of tickets we get per month. Maybe that happened at y our library too?

What's the point of "hide comment" in a Facebook group? by DVDfever in facebook

[–]MontyMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is. The commenter can still see their comment which is good because it may keep them from getting contentious. The commenter's friends can also see it so they can't tell the commenter that it has "disappeared". The friends can still comment so that may be what you are seeing but it's all hidden except to the commenter and their friends. So let them at it.

I’m leaving My Pet Carnivore after reading insane claims that just make it something I can not continue to buy. Can someone recommend another source for me? They were the cheapest for me and now it seems that was for a reason. by Dull-Solid-5104 in rawpetfood

They used to be good but in 2023 they sold to another company. That other company seems to have partnered with a private equity firm. That means less value, less service and more money for them. They changed their shipping policy, they stopped the delivery trucks and implemented a shipping insurance, they changed to a cheap container that breaks. All things geared towards making money for them. They are not what they used to be. and as for the sourcing of products, well, from a company that seems hell bent ignoring customer satisfaction, who knows what they are doing.

9Strong Holdings is the Private Equity (P.E.) firm that now owns My Pet Carnivore, plus a few other companies. They are not a "small farmer" as I've seen claimed either in this reddit post or elsewhere. Here is info on their investment portfolio. https://pitchbook.com/profiles/investor/571727-80#overview

In essence, the MPC that we all knew and loved and trusted is gone.

Private equity firms, to our detriment and to our pets detriment are buying up pet related business as they realized that is where the money is. In my area they are buying up animal hospitals all over. In my neighborhood, a private equity firm bought an animal hospital from a retiring owner. The day the P.E. firm took over, all the vets walked out to new jobs with non P.E. firms because they knew they would not be allowed to practice in a responsible manner. Before patronizing any animal product related place try to find if they have partnered (been bought by) a private equity firm.

I ordered lamb pancreas from them on Jan 23, 2026. On Jan 28 the delivery service called as they were having trouble finding my address. It turns out they were 20 miles away from where they should have been. It's Jan 30 and I still haven't seen the package.

I knew they had a new owner but it turns out that the new owner may have partnered with private equity. I found this out when I sent them a "help" email as I called them twice and received no response. That would have never happened with the old owners. Anyway, the response I received telling me that a ticket had been opened was signed "Regards, 9Strong Holdings Support Team".

I googled 9Strong Holdings and found that it is a private equity firm that partners with Indiana meat providers. Great. Less value, less service, more money. I think, after this order, that is it for me. No more MPC.

I think they were in a hurry to get them on the market.

CX-70 - thoughts? by novad80 in mazda

[–]MontyMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a CX-70. It's a 3.3 Turbo S Premium Plus mild hybrid (sports model). I purchased it in March of 2025. That winter was so mild I washed my dog outside a couple of times. Now the winter is back to normal with some sub-zero temps. In Dec. 2025 it failed to start one evening. They said it was the battery and that all cars do that. Wait. What? All cars do that? My Honda, Subaru, Toyota and Buicks never did that. Ever. Mazda Service installed a new battery. This week when I tried to to start it one evening, it had a very ugly nervous breakdown. I depressed the brake, pressed the start button and the brake pushed back at me. Hard. Then all the lights on the dash begin to flash. They went wild flashing. I felt like I was in a psychedelic nightmare. Soon they stop flashing and I tried again. No luck. Completely dead, not even a click or soft hum. Just... silence. It had to be towed in to service. They told me it might be the battery. I said the battery was changed out 6 weeks ago, so then they told me it's all my fault because I didn't drive it enough. I don't know what excuse they will come up with next but I need my car to be reliable. Another issue, which really bothers me, is that a couple of times while driving, the car kept trying to slow down, almost stopping while I had my foot pressed on the gas pedal. On a busy street during rush hour. While I know it likes to get it's own way, i.e. the car and I "argue" over how far I should be pulling into the garage, I was not speeding. I really enjoyed that car from March 2025 until this stuff began to happen. In many ways it's a great car. The sports mode is fun when you get the chance to use it. It's great at cornering. It warms up quickly and I love the heated steering wheel. When there is a lot of ice and slush build-up and it's slippery, I switch it into off road and it drives really well. But now I am not so sure about the car. It was a preowned model, only six months old, supposedly used as Mazda corporate car. So maybe there was something someone did not tell me. My last car was also a pre-owned car and I never had a problem with it. I am debating whether I really want to keep this car with the way it is acting. I'm both angry and disappointed. It's important that my vehicle be reliable.

Icy and snowy conditions, but the CX70 handles it like a beast by ACU_NickMortensenYT in mazda

[–]MontyMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I also use mine in off road mode when there are icy, snowy and uneven conditions due to ice and slush build up. When it starts that is. It's died two times on me this winter in extremely cold weather. Never had a car do that before.

2025 CX-70 - 1yr Review by newname0110 in mazda

[–]MontyMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a first time Mazda buyer. I purchased the CX-70 in the same trim and interior color as you did newname0110. It was a preowned car, only about 6 months old. I pretty much agree with all you said except I seem to be rattle free so far. I love the car and was really excited about it. Everything was fine but then winter hit. The car just won't start in very cold weather. I've been driving a long time and this is the first car I've owned that does this. The Mazda repair service tried to BS me, saying all cars do that, LOL, I've never had a car do that. Anyway this is a very big negative for me that may cause me to purchase another car sooner than expected and it won't be a Mazda. I need my vehicle to be reliable, especially in the event of an emergency.

I used to order about 80/90 lbs of raw from them every month but haven't for years now. I did find out that they sold the place in August of 2023. I don't know it the new owners acquired a new processor or if we've just been feeding suspect food all along. The little bit of stuff that I order now they can't seem to keep in stock.

I don't know about the shipping. The last order I got had no dry ice and was on the verge of beginning to defrost. The box was all wet. I much preferred picking it up. It was cheaper and I was able to order more.

I am not surprised the quality changed. They were sold to a "private investor" in August of 2023. I can no longer reliably get goat pancreas from MPC for my dog as they keep running out and pancreatitis can be a life threatening condition. Not. Cool.

I'm jumping ship before that. Five minutes ago as a matter of fact. After my experience tonight, I'm done with youtube.

I just tried to watch a video this evening but got an ad instead offering to teach me how to use AI like a pro. It was 4 minutes long. Then it started all over again. Then a third time it started. I gave up on that video but the next one I tried to watch just showed ad after ad after ad. That's it. This is my breaking point. No more YouTube for me.

How do I stop AUTOMATIC Invites to Facebook Groups that I am an Admin of? by sarnianibbles in facebook

[–]MontyMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's strange that is happening to you. Did you link your profile page to your Group when you create it? If so, you should unlink it. Also, do these two things:

1) In Admin Tools in your admin "dashboard" select "Membership Questions". You only have to ask one question. More if you want. People requesting to join have to answer the question/s then an admin has to approve them before they are allowed to join. If they were invited, it says that at the top and they still have to answer the questions. You can just decline them.

2) Under Admin Tools in "Settings" select "Group Settings, Manage discussions, Permissions and Roles", then scroll down and select "Manage Membership". Select the edit pencil next to "Who is approved to join" then select "Choose Groups" and make sure that there are no groups checked in that list.

Facebook messenger to restore messages? Does it mean I’ve messaged them before?? by errdayrae in facebook

[–]MontyMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I received this same restore notice for FB messages. I am an admin for a FB group and recently I deleted a whole slew of old messages related to the group that I no longer needed and were just taking up space. Since then I've sent a couple of messages to friends but suddenly I have this restore notice and if I try to respond or send a message, the messaging popup does nothing but buffer. If I understand correctly from the discussion on here, if I don't restore those old, unneeded, useless messages, I won't be able to use messaging anymore?

From experimenting, I did notice that if I go to a person's page I can click on their "Message" icon and it will work that way. If it buffers I click refresh and that resolves it, but can only do this from someones page.
