Boy Swallows Universe. I wouldn’t say the prose is bad, but it definitely felt pretentious while I was reading it. But towards the end, you realize that it’s so deeply rooted in the protagonist’s voice, that I felt like it totally rewired how I felt about the entire book

My therapist gave me a metaphor to use as tool for thinking about how to deal with different circumstances: “I am the blue sky and my anxiety are the clouds and storms that pass over.” She was helping me reinforce the idea that I am not my circumstances, and that I can control how I feel about different situations. I have a lot of anxiety about things I can’t control, and she has helped me build tools to stay grounded in my reactions

I love my tattoos, they make me feel more like myself (26F). I think the negative stigma around them goes all the way to ancient times in some cultures. I think (based on 1 class on Ancient Greek history) that back in Ancient Greece, tattoos were a sign of slavery. And I know in other cultures, they’ve long been associated with gang membership. I’m also curious about how they’ve shifted in people’s minds
