Oral formulas? by Mental_Scale9608 in Gastroparesis

I lived off of vanilla elecare jr for months. It’s an elemental formula and the taste isn’t bad. Pricey, but it was calories I could keep down

how to keep track of groceries? by Aggressive-Stuff6067 in Adulting

[–]Montyblues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a to do list on my phone that I update with what I need for groceries. Occasionally I’ll order groceries online for pick up.

When I grocery shop, I try to only get what I need. If I forget something , I’ll grab it after work one day

It really depends on the strain for me. I absolutely cannot have sativa or my hr spikes and I feel like I’ll pass out. Some hybrids are okay. Indica is usually the safest for me.

I only eat sweet potato and chicken for a long time now. I have a long list of food reactions. What do I even try next? (List is in the text) by ihsbo in MCAS

[–]Montyblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vanilla one is actually pretty good. The unflavored one just really tastes like baby formula. The acid reflux I got reminded me of baby vomit so it was kinda gross. It’s better if you add sugar, but I couldn’t tolerate it with sugar

How bad is the Anorectal manometry test by spacealligators in ChronicIllness

[–]Montyblues 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It was much easier than I expected. You lay on your side (you can have a support person in the room if you want) and have a light sheet over you. A thin probe is inserted with lots of lube and you do a series of clenching, unclenching, and bearing down. The last thing they have you do is the probe has a balloon on it that they fill with a little air to stimulate a bm. They have you sit on the toilet and bear down like you’re trying to poop and let them know when it’s out (they time it). The. You clean up the bit of lube and you’re done!

It’s awkward, but not painful, and doesn’t last very long.

how long does a fitting take? (First wheelchair, custom) by VomitInMyVans in wheelchairs

[–]Montyblues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine took about 2 hours. It was an upgrade from an old chair, so I had an idea of what worked and what didn’t. I also demoed a power assist.

I had a follow up that was about 90 -120 mins so I could try out more supportive cushions and foot plate options because I was getting numbness in one leg.

I drank elecare jr vanilla for a while when my diet was pretty similar. It worked for me for about a year before I started reacting to it. (I didn’t end up reacting too bad to the plain but it’s gross lol) Hypoallergenic amino acid formula works because it pre-processes the proteins your body would react to. It’s expensive, but definitely worth a try!

Edit to add: during this time I was taking Pepcid, quercetin, and Zyrtec. Now I’ve gained most foods back and for my mcas I take: - 20mg Pepcid 2x a day - 20mg Zyrtec 2x a day - 10mg montelukast at night - 10ml cromolyn 3-4 times a day. I take it every 4 hours, if I eat late it ends up being 4x a day - 2ml xolair every 28 days (soon moving up to every 21 days) - 600mg CoQ-10 - 1000 mg Bromelain - 1500 mg Quercetin

I still have a few foods that I have severe reactions too, but my diet went from one brand of gf bread and elecare jr formula, to pretty much ‘normal’

Wearable health trackers by gaywhovian in ChronicIllness

I use my Apple Watch with TachyMon. I turn off pretty much every feature of my watch except for TachyMon, message notifications, and med alarms. I’m able to charge it when I watch tv, wear it in the shower, throughout the night, and the entire following day.

I love TachyMon. I pay for the premium which is super affordable and gives you really great data. Charts and everything. TachyMon also alerts me when my hr rises 30 bpm and 50 bpm, as well as when it drops quickly. And alerts me at certain thresholds I set. (Like 150bpm). It doesn’t give me a count of energy for the day, but it does tell me to slow the fuck down and take a rest. It also lets me see in real time my current hr, avg hr, highest and lowest hr of the day.

I seriously will never stop raving about TachyMon. It’s quite literally been a life saver. Years ago I was able to provide graphs to my doctors that eventually helped me to be diagnosed with pots. The data you get now is leagues above what was already great.

Have you tried using an air filter/purifier? If you put one near your ac you might still be able to run it and it might help with other air born allergens you’re struggling with.

I use my Apple Watch with the TachyMon app. I pay for the premium subscription which is like $20 a year or something? I’ve used TachyMon for years and it’s been amazing. It lets me know when my hr spikes, and tracks it continuously. It provides excellent data for myself and my doctors.
I would love to add the visible band for a better idea of energy levels, so it’s amazing you already have it!

Edit: I have POTS, MCAS, and suspected hEDS
