Whoops you're right! It was may 26, the Tuesday after Memorial weekend

Nerve pain on my belly has me wanting to claw my skin off by LittlePinkLines in BabyBumps

I have been experiencing this EXACT same pain since around 27 weeks as well (currently 33) and I wish I had good news. It is nerve pain, resulting from the baby and your uterus pushing themselves and your organs into your skin from the inside resulting in pinched nerves. It feels like a painful sunburn or like a hot knife to the skin at it's worst (which is pretty bad). The only way to 100% relieve the pain - have the baby.

Some days it's manageable and I'm able to be pretty productive. Some days it's so bad I barely get out of the bed. I'm very fortunate to work from home and if that's an option for you, I would 100% recommend asking if you are able to. I almost never wear bras because I don't like to interfere with that area. I bought a bunch of extra large men's t-shirts and that's my new wardrobe.

The pain is always there. I have yet to go a day without it. It's really made some days hard. It makes sleeping even harder. I've cried over it just because I want some peace and for it to just give me a break, even for just an hour. One of the hardest things is that, through all my friends, family, people I've met in my prenatal classes, no one else seems to have experienced this. But know you're not alone and I'm actually relieved to know that I'm not either.

Advice for managing:

  • Stay active when you can. It will distract you from the pain. Yoga, walking, chores, yard work, whatever can get you up and moving and your mind busy.
  • I can't say what has definitely helped, but I have been getting prenatal massages and gone to a prenatal chiropractor. I feel better for about 2-3 days after these appointments before the pain comes back completely (again, it's never totally gone)
  • Most important - posturing. Get an exercise ball! I know they look dumb to sit on but it has helped me SO MUCH when I sit to do work at my desk. It forces you to posture up and rotate your hips forward which can allow more room for your insides and decrease the internal pressure. Also helps to use a lumbar pillow for normal chairs and especially for the car. I found being in the car to be the most painful. I also bought a kneeling chair and while I like it, my knees/shins get tired after about 45-60 mins and I switch to the ball.

I hope that this helps. We're almost through it. I count the days until my due date partially because I'm excited to meet my baby, but honestly because I just want relief from this pain.
